Edmund felt impatience rising within him and said coldly, “Enough.”
Victor looked like he wanted to say more, but Lillian stepped him, shaking her head at him
“Let’s drop it, Victor. Today is Matt’s birthday. Let’s just go inside.”
Seeing Edmund’s stern expression, Victor didn’t dare to continue.

Inside the VIP room, Serena had wanted to call some male escorts over, but Vivienne firmly refused, leaving Serena no choice but to drop the idea. “The male escorts here are top–notch, really fit! That six-
pack… wow, just amazing! You’d know if you touched it absolutely irresistible now and not give them
Vivienne said, “I’m planning to divorce Edmund, so it’s better to be cautious right now and not give them any ammunition against me. I don’t want any complications.”
Serena nodded thoughtfully, “Right, to avoid giving them a chance to turn things around on you.”
Unable to call for male escorts, Serena started selecting songs to sing. After a while, Vivienne felt her phone vibrate.
She glanced at the caller ID–it was Adrian.
Signaling to Serena, she stepped out to take the call. Adrian was calling to tell her about his plans to start a studio now that his contract with the agency was ending. Since Vivienne was also considering a comeback, Adrian thought it was a good time to start his studio.
Vivienne agreed immediately.
After hanging up, she went to the restroom. When she came out, she ran into Lillian, who was touching up her makeup at the sink.
Vivienne glanced at her and then looked away indifferently.
She washed her hands and was about to leave when Lillian called out to her, “Vivienne.”
Vivienne turned back. “What is it?”
Lillian smiled softly and pulled something from her bag.
“Take a look; what is this?”
In her hand, Lillian held an old–fashioned amulet. Vivienne’s brow twitched slightly, and her breathing momentarily halted.
Lillian continued with a smile, “Theo told me that you prayed for this amulet in a temple, day and night, when he was sick. You earnestly begged for his recovery.”
Vivienne responded coolly, “What are you trying to say”
Lillian gently swayed the amulet in her hand. “Theo said that after you brought this amulet back, his illness started to improve. He gave it to me, hoping it would help me recover too.”

When Theo was three, a severe fever nearly took his life. The doctors tried everything, but his fever wouldn’t break, and they had prepared for the worst, sending him home.
Edmund’s sister had even suggested making Theo’s passing less painful with euthanasia.
Refusing to surrender, Vivienne had resorted to religion as a final measure. Whether by coincidence or miracle, Theo’s fever began to recede when she returned with the amulet. From then on, his health gradually improved.
While still very dependent on her, Theo had told her, Mom, this is the amulet you got for me. I’ll wear it every day and treasure it always.”
It was unexpected that one day this amulet would end up with Lillian.
Lillian adjusted a stray hair behind her ear, revealing a jade bracelet on her wrist.
The bracelet’s soft green hue shimmered with a gentle luster that was surprisingly sharp to the eye.
Vivienne’s pupils contracted. This bracelet was a Harrington family heirloom, passed down to the daughters–in–law.
Edmund’s mother, Talia, had never warmed up to her, so she had never given her the bracelet.
Even after Theo was born, Talia remained distant. Vivienne knew Talia favored proper high–society ladies and was also dismissive of Lillian.
It was rumored that Talia had a hand in Edmund and Lillian’s breakup.
Surprisingly, Edmund ended up marrying her, someone even less acceptable than Lillian to the Harringtons. Everyone within the Harrington family held her in low regard.
Even the Harrington staff mocked her, believing she had schemed her way into marrying Edmund.
In the early years of her marriage, Talia didn’t even want to see her.
During holidays, she wasn’t allowed anywhere near the Harrington residence. As Theo grew older, becoming more like Edmund and showing his intelligence, Talia finally started to relent.
She eventually gave the family bracelet to Theo, telling him to pass it on to his future wife.
Vivienne had once asked to see it, but Theo had refused.
He’d said solemnly, “Grandma said this bracelet is for my future wife. If it gets lost or broken, then I won’t have a wife.”
At the time, Vivienne had laughed at his childlike seriousness.
Now, the irony was bitter. Lillian, sensing her gaze, smiled slightly, a trace of provocation and triumph in her eyes.
“Theo also gave me this bracelet. He said it’s meant for the Harrington daughters–in–law. He wouldn’t even give it to his mom when she asked.”
Vivienne silently watched her perform.

Sure enough, Lillian added, smiling, “He gave this gift to me because he hopes I can be his mom and become part of the Harrington family. By the way, Vivienne, you probably don’t know about the parent- child event this weekend that requires both parents, right?”
Parent–child event? Vivienne suddenly remembered a mare carly evening when Edmund had come home for dinner.
While she was in the kitchen fetching soup, she overheard Theo and Edmund discussing something. She caught snippets of their conversation.
When she returned, Theo had stopped talking. Clearly, he didn’t want her to hear. By then, she was so sick of Lillian she could hardly stand it.
She didn’t want her rare family time ruined by hearing more about Lillian, so she hadn’t pressed the issue.
So, that was what they were discussing. Lillian’s voice broke her thoughts. “Theo also said it’s embarrassing that while other kids‘ moms are celebrities or nobles, his mom is just a housewife.”
She covered her mouth with a laugh, leaning in to whisper, “Do you know what Theo tells people about you? He says you’re the Harrington’s nanny, which is why you’re always there to bring him meals and take him to and from school.”
