Jaxon looked at me with deep affection and said, “Elara, I’ve figured it out. Let’s be together.”
Me: ???
Seriously, what the hell did you figure out?
“I have a boyfriend.”
Jaxon said it as if it were obvious: “I know, but wasn’t that just to make me jealous? Now that I’m back, go break up with him.”
Me: …
“My boyfriend and I are deeply in love now. There’s no way I’m breaking up.”
Jaxon self–righteously argued, “Elara, are you upset about Luna? She and I have nothing going on. I don’t like her.”
I seriously told Jaxon, “Jaxon, this has nothing to do with Luna. Look into my eyes. I truly don’t like you anymore.”
Jaxon looked at me intently, trying to discern if I was telling the truth.
But when he realized I was serious, his eyes reddened.
“I remember you used to bring me food, tutor me, supervise my studies, and even cook for me. You didn’t even leave when I said those awful things. You were so good to me; you clearly liked me!”

“How non vou, not lika mo anumarn? How could you etan liking mo?!”
- us.
His despondent look, paired with that handsome face, was quite impactful.
Unfortunately, I’d seen him act so utterly ridiculous too many times to feel any pity.
“Jaxon, no one will stand still and wait for you forever. And neither will I.”
“Also, you’d better fix that mouth of yours, or no girl will be able to tolerate it.”
Jaxon looked at me expectantly: “If I change, will you… will you come back and like me again?”
I shook my head decisively, absolutely refusing to give Jaxon any hope.
After that day, Jaxon disappeared for several more days.
One night, after watching a movie, Caleb walked me back to my dorm, and we noticed a shadowy figure sneaking around, following
Caleb immediately pulled me around a corner, planning to catch the person.
But before Caleb could make a move, the shadowy figure fell to the ground with a “thump” and groaned in pain.
Caleb and I exchanged a look and decided to go check.
As we got closer, we realized the person following us was Jaxon. He looked quite drunk.
Caleb stepped forward to help Jaxon up, intending to take him to a hotel to get a room.
Unexpectedly, Jaxon kept staring at Caleb the entire way, his gaze so intense it gave me goosebumps.
We finally managed to toss him onto the bed, but Jaxon unsteadily sat up again.
He loudly demanded, “Tell me, what peculiar charm do you possess? Do you cast spells or something? How else did you steal my female lead?”
His words made my heart skip a beat.
Caleb thought Jaxon was just talking drunk, but I didn’t.
“System, System, what’s going on? How did Jaxon suddenly say ‘female lead“?”
“System detecting…”
“Based on big data analysis, the system predicts that Jaxon has very likely awakened. He knows he is in a book and is the male lead, destined to fall in love with the female lead. Therefore, he is attempting to resist the plot, which caused the storyline to deviate.”
Jaxon’s next words indeed confirmed this.
“The plot clearly dictates that I’m the male lead, and Elara and I are meant to be.”
Caleb paused in the act of unscrewing a water bottle. He deliberately positioned himself between me and Jaxon and suddenly asked, “Besides dictating that the male and female leads are a match made in heaven, what else does the plot dictate?”
In my mind, I prayed for Jaxon to sober up and not say anything he shouldn’t.

I wanted to kill Jaxon.
Too bad my dear boyfriend was in the way.
Caleb smiled gently and said, “Oh, so that’s how it is.”
But the actions of his hands were not gentle at all.
He pinched Jaxon’s cheeks, forcing water down his throat.
After he let go, Jaxon peacefully passed out.
Leaving me alone to face the impending interrogation.
