He looked at me so intently that I wondered if I had something on my face and was about to check with a mirror.
Then Caleb took the love letter and readily agreed: “Okay, let’s create our very own happy ending together, girlfriend.”
Wuwuwu, this is what a normal female–oriented romance story should be like!
Sweet romance had finally come to me.
“Here, boyfriend, your boba tea.”
Many girls in the classroom watched with envy and jealousy as Caleb led me away by the hand.
All the way, my cheeks felt burning hot.
It was the first time I’d held the hand of an adult man other than my father. I somewhat wanted to pull away, but I couldn’t bear to let
My boyfriend’s hand had distinctly defined knuckles and was a little cool. In short, it felt wonderful to hold.
But I never expected that at such a happy moment, Jaxon the Maniac would show up to ruin things again.
Though, this time he spoke politely, but I still didn’t like what he said.

“Elara, are you really going this far just to get my attention?”
“You need to have some self–respect. Caleb, I’m sorry, Elara just confessed to you to provoke me. She’s messing around, it doesn’t count. She’s a bit out of it, don’t mind her. I’ll just take her away.”
With that, he tried to pull me along.
I pushed Jaxon away in a fit of pique.
“Jaxon, can you stop being so full of yourself? Nobody’s trying to provoke you! How can my hard–earned confession not count?”
“And finally, you’re the one who’s out of it!”
I refuted Jaxon’s words one by one, then started to curse him: “Jaxon, if you’ve got a problem with your brain, go see a doctor! Don’t fantasize that I can’t live without you! Don’t imagine I’m dependent on you!”
“I might have liked you once, but that doesn’t mean anything. Aren’t people allowed to like a jerk when they’re young?”
“Now, please get your ass out of here and don’t interrupt me and my boyfriend.”
Jaxon roared, “Elara, if you do this, you’ll not only completely lose me, but you’ll also hurt Caleb! Don’t be childish, come back with
me!”
He grabbed my wrist, about to forcibly drag me away.
“Let go of me! Let go!”
Jaxon was stronger than me. No matter how hard I struggled, I couldn’t break free.
Just as I was about to burst out and punch that jerk, Caleb grabbed Jaxon’s wrist and stopped him: “Let go of my girlfriend. She doesn’t want to go with you.”
Jaxon couldn’t drag me away anymore and could only explain, “She does want to. She likes me. We’re just having a small argument, so she’s deliberately saying she doesn’t want to.”
Hearing that, I immediately shook my head at Caleb: “That’s not true. He’s got a screw loose. He’s just imagining things.”
Caleb gave me a reassuring smile and said, “I trust my girlfriend. Now, she says she doesn’t want to go with you. Please let go, or don’t blame me for getting serious.”
Under Caleb’s intervention, Jaxon had to release my wrist.
I snuggled behind Caleb, acting sweet, and said to Jaxon, “Jaxon, can’t we just go our separate ways and be fine?”
“I chased after you for three years, with countless confessions and expressions of my feelings, and you completely ignored them, even becoming more disgusted with me.”
“Now that I’m not chasing you anymore, shouldn’t you be happy? Finally, no one will be clinging to you like glue. You’re completely free.”
Didn’t you say you liked Luna? Go find her then!”
Jaxon froze in place, wanting to say something, but unsure how to retort.
Seeing Jaxon speechless, I pulled Caleb away.
On the way, I kept rambling, trying to brainwash Caleb.
On the way, I kept rambling, trying to brainwash Caleb.
I wanted Caleb to stay away from Jaxon, worried he might actually believe Jaxon’s words about me still liking him.
The tiny sprout of my new relationship had just begun to grow; it was so fragile and needed careful nurturing.
“Don’t mind Jaxon, he really is a bit unhinged, and it’s contagious. He’s got a lot of crazy people around him, and they keep infecting each other, getting worse and worse.”
“Jaxon always acts like I can’t live without him, isn’t he sick? But when I actually followed him around, he hated me.”
“He’s so arrogant, always saying nasty things. He’s truly annoying. If you stay with him too long, I’m afraid you’ll catch it too.”
Caleb listened patiently, with good humor.
Before I knew it, we arrived at my dorm building.
“Do you have class tomorrow?”
“The dreaded 8 AM class. And another one at 2 PM.”
Just thinking about the 8 AM class made me lose all energy.
“Okay, I see. Want to have lunch together tomorrow? There’s a new underwater restaurant nearby; want to try it?”
“Yes!”
