Chapter 7
I finally breathed a sigh of relief. Thomas glanced at the renowned lawyer beside me, looking somewhat puzzled.

“Evelyn, who exactly did you marry? He can actually get such a powerful lawyer to draft such a simple property division agreement.”
I was stunned for a moment. This was all because I was afraid something might go wrong.
Since I chose to leave, I had to eliminate all future troubles, so I hired the top lawyer in the industry.
“I found out that you flew here from New York on a private jet and you’re staying in the presidential suite on the top floor of the Park Hyatt.”
Thomas hesitated, “That room is exclusively reserved for some mysterious big shot. I can’t even get the elevator to go to the top floor. Without money or power, how did you manage it?”
“Evelyn, you’re used to living a luxurious life and can’t adapt to a poor one. But you can’t do illegal and immoral things just to pretend you’re wealthy!”
He frowned deeply, obviously thinking I had gone astray.
If he could find out I took a private jet, he could naturally also

discover that I had filled in “unmarried” on my customs form.
Thomas and I had known each other for over twenty Christmases, yet he truly believed I would do such things.
My pent–up emotions reached their breaking point. Without further hesitation, I slapped him directly.
I used all my strength, so much that my hand went numb. A bright red handprint instantly appeared on his face.
Christina naturally stood on her high horse to condemn me, “Evelyn, Thomas guessed right, so you’re lashing out in embarrassment, aren’t you?”
She was certain Thomas was right.
I immediately gave each of them a slap.
Christina was somewhat dazed, “You hit me?”
“Yes.”
I answered calmly, “Legally, this is called slander, which is illegal. My lawyer is still here as a witness. Besides, as your elder, it’s perfectly reasonable for me to discipline you!”
Thomas mumbled, “What do you mean? You couldn’t possibly be…”

I calmly interrupted him, “You guessed right. The man I remarried is Quinton Martin.”

His eyes widened as he roared, “Evelyn, there should be limits to your lies! He’s my uncle!”
marry
Christina, catching on, sneered dismissively, “Evelyn, you’ve lost your mind. But even so, Quinton wouldn’t be crazy enough to
his nephew’s ex–wife. Besides, he’s mysterious, and many wealthy girls who desperately wanted to meet him couldn’t even get a chance to have dinner with him. He’s not someone to mess with. If he finds out you’re spreading rumors about him, we’ll put in a good word for you.”
Thomas preferred to believe Christina’s words and agreed, “In New York, no one dares to mess with Uncle Quinton. I heard from my grandfather that after graduation, he stayed there to start his business and rarely returns to California.”
The more they talked, the more certain they became. I shrugged indifferently, “Think whatever you want, but the fact is exactly as I said.”
Although Quinton and I weren’t married yet, it would happen
soon.
The main reason was that I had recovered my memory a week ago, and I thought I should clear things up with Thomas first.
Quinton was somewhat jealous, but he still arranged for his

private jet to bring me here.

I figured I still needed to end everything between Thomas and
- me.
Since he married someone else just half a month after I went missing, it was perfectly normal for me to fall in love with someone else after losing my memory.
