Ben threw the divorce papers.
“Sarah, just give me one more chance! I’ll send Ashley overseas and never see her again, okay?”
He reached for me, but Jake pushed him
away.
“Ben, can a sorry really erase everything? What’s the point of the law?”
Jake handed him the flash drive.
“This is attempted abuse. If people know that
you had your bodyguards abuse your wife, I
don’t know what will happen.”
I stood up and said to Ben.

Maybe the love I thought existed wasn’t how I thought it was.
When I saw him taking care of Ashley, I knew
we were over.

The judge looked at the evidence.
Ben’s face was pale.
He hoped that we could come to an agreement because we had grown up
together, thinking that I wouldn’t ruin him.
I ended up letting him avoid jail, and he paid a
20% stock settlement.
People were talking about Ben’s actions.
I heard that Ben’s business was declining, and he was drinking a lot.
He would call me, but the phone would say that I was busy.
Ben’s temper was bad, and Ashley was being annoying.
He started going to bars, and when he was
drunk, he would call me.
He started renovating the house and replaced
the flowers.
He seemed to see me, flying into his arms
with a big smile.
Ben regretted everything.
