Chapter 35 Deal
The underground parking lot of the Compton Group was large
and vacant. While I sat in the car and spoke on the phone, I
could vaguely hear the echo. The place was a little spooky.
“Yes. Jettes City is indeed a good place to settle down. It’s very
relaxing here too. I stayed here for a few days. I really like the
pace of life here. The weather here is really pleasant too. Living
here should be quite a good thing.”
Lexie said a lot on the other end of the line. I put her on the
speaker and started the engine. The car park was too empty,
and I felt a little uneasy here.
I answered while reversing the car, “You should stay in Jettes
City for a couple more days to get used to it. Maybe you can find me a suitable place to live there. Trystan arranged another project for me. It’s quite a difficult one, so I probably won’t be able to go anywhere for the time being.”
She cursed and started nagging at me. “You’ve already decided to quit. Why did you accept another project? Since you’ve decided to leave, then do it once and for all. Stop having second thoughts or dragging things on.”
Chapter 35 Deal
I knew that I should leave once and for all if I wanted to leave.
But humans were born to be indecisive. It wasn’t an easy thing
to leave.
Bang! I had just reversed out of my parking space when I ran
into something. My heart skipped a beat and I hurriedly said to
Lexie over the phone, “Lexie, I think I hit something. I’ll call you
back later. Bye.”
Before Lexie could say anything, I hung up the call and got out
of my car.
There would occasionally be stray animals in the underground
parking lot, so I hoped that it wasn’t anything too serious.
I circled my car to check, and sure enough, I found a kitten in a
blind spot behind my car. It looked quite seriously injured, so I
walked over to check it out. The moment I bent down, someone
covered my nose and mouth from behind. The pungent smell of
a certain chemical invaded my nostrils.
By the time I realized the danger I was facing, I had already lost
consciousness.
When I woke up, I only saw pitch–black darkness around me.
Everything around me was so quiet that I could probably hear the sound of a pin drop on the ground.
Chapter 35 Deal-
I panicked, but after several minutes, I managed to calm myself
down. Since the kidnappers kept me alive, it meant that they
had other plans for me. I was Trystan’s wife. They either
wanted to demand a ransom or use me to threaten Trystan.
No matter what they wanted, my life probably wasn’t in danger
for the time being.
With that thought in mind, I gradually calmed down. After
about half an hour, I heard an ear–splitting noise. Then dazzling
lights came on, blinding my eyes.
Then I heard the voice of a middle–aged man. “That woman is
awake!”
After some time, my eyes finally adjusted to the light. I scanned
around and realized that I was being held in a container. Three
meters in front of me, there was a man but because his back
was to the light, I couldn’t see his face clearly.
Despite that, I noticed that he was slightly plump and had a
gravelly voice. From these features, I could tell that he was a
middle–aged man. I smelt a whiff of his cologne, which was
usually used by men who were quite accomplished.
This man was no hooligan. Instead, he was either a business
owner or a white–collar worker.
Chapter 35 Deal
“She’s awake! Blindfold her and take her there!” said the man.
After that, a thin man came over. Their faces were both
covered, so I couldn’t see what they looked like.
I was still dizzy. Although I could see my surroundings clearly, I
couldn’t move at all. After my eyes were blindfolded, I was
dragged on my feet for quite a long distance. Then I felt that I
was pushed into a room.
After that, my blindfold was untied. I had recovered some
strength. I questioned them in a hoarse voice, “Who are you?
Why did you kidnap me here?”
The thin man didn’t speak. The middle–aged man said, “Relax,
Ms. Carson. We invite you here to watch a good show. After
you watch it, we’ll send you back.”
Then the door to the room was slammed shut. I was seated on a
dilapidated bed with my hands and feet tied. I struggled a few
times, but it was in vain, so I gave up.
Suddenly, I heard people talking in the originally dim room.
“Trystan, you once told me that you would divorce her and
marry me. Don’t make me wait for too long, okay?”
It sounded like Janet?
Chapter 35 Deal
“Janet, stop causing trouble!” Trystan’s voice sounded different
from usual. He seemed to be a little drunk.
Why could I hear them talking? Who wanted to hear this?
“Trystan, are you in love with her? Is that the reason you don’t
want to divorce her?” Janet’s voice sounded frantic. People
could tell that something must go on with them from her words.
Then there came a rustling sound. I thought that they were
probably undressing. Trystan said in a tight voice, “Janet, don’t
fool around. I’m already married to her.””
“So what? You don’t love her! Trystan, you said that you love
me, right? I’m totally healthy now. Let’s have another kid.”
“Janet…”
I kept my eyes closed tightly so as to stay away from these
voices. But the more I refused to hear their conversation, the louder the sound became and the more tortuous I felt.
I always knew the relationship between Janet and Trystan. I wasn’t surprised that they would have sex. But I trembled a lot when I heard that with my own ears. I felt disgusted. I wanted
to vomit.
I vomited a lot until my stomach went empty. felt that all my
strength was drained. I lay on the bedside, feeling my heart
begin to hurt. I felt like my heart broke into pieces and ants
were biting it.
“Ms. Carson, was the show just now great?” The door was
opened, and the fat man came in. Obviously, he was saying that
with a nasty smile. So gross.
I looked at him. I couldn’t see his face, but I stared at his eyes and
said with disgust, “Did Janet ask you to do this?”
I thought nobody else but she would do such disgusting things.
“Is that important?” he chuckled. “Ms. Carson, you must feel special when you hear such a great show, right?”
“What do you want?” I didn’t think that they just captured me here to disgust me.”
“Brilliant!” The fat man raised his voice. He continued, “Ms.
Carson, I heard that you are in charge of auditing in the
Compton Group this year. I wonder if you are interested in having a deal with me.”
I sneered. “You brought me here with a dirty trick and disgusted me with those gross things. Why do you think that I’m still willing to have a deal with me?”
Chapter 35 Deal
He pondered for a while and said in a low and slow voice,
“Because you are pregnant with a child. Is that enough?” I froze
and burst out a cold sweat when hearing this. How did he
know?
He seemed to be satisfied with my reaction. He smiled and said,
Ms. Carson, it seems that you don’t want Mr. Compton to know
about that. You must have some other plans. In that case, let’s
cooperate, okay?”
“What do you want?” Whoever got the chance to audit the
Compton Group would get a large sum of money. It was normal
that people wanted to get the chance. But using such a dirty
trick was really too shameless.
“Make the audit of the Compton Group open for bidding,” he
said.
I froze and frowned slightly. “Is that all?”
