If I were lucky enough, I would possibly meet a kind driver who
would give me a ride home. As it was raining heavily, the small
umbrella didn’t manage to serve its purpose. Soon enough, I was
soaked.
I was seriously unlucky as I didn’t see a car after walking for
some time. My belly was aching painfully. After a while, I could
no longer endure the pain in my belly.
Worried about my child, I had to stop. I hurriedly covered my
belly and half crouched on the ground. The rain became even
heavier. I reached into my pocket. However, my phone wasn’t
there. I guessed I must have left it in the car earlier.
Yet I was too far away from my car now. My belly was in so
much pain that I couldn’t make the journey back. I held on to a
roadside rock for support, limping forward slowly. As I was
sweating profusely, I finally stopped and squatted again.

When I heard the sound of a car hitting its brakes, I was so
dizzy. Forcing my eyes open, I looked up in a daze.
I saw a black Jeep with the plate number ACL999. It was
Trystan’s car.
Seeing the numbers flash by, I realized that Trystan had come. I
gathered all of my remaining energy and struggled to stand up.
Unfortunately, I had been crouching on the ground for too long,
and my head was dizzy. I lost my balance and fell backward.
“Stupid woman!” Trystan’s frosty and deep voice sounded in my
ear. I tried to open my eyes, but my eyelids were too heavy. I
could feel Trystan carry me into his car before I lost
consciousness.
When I woke up, I was in a daze. I saw the white ceiling and
walls. Only when my vision became clear, I realized I was in the

I subconsciously reached out to touch my belly.
“Don’t worry. Your baby is alright.” A sudden voice startled me.
I looked sideways and was stunned to see Lanny, speechless for
a while.
After a pause, I asked, “Why…” I wanted to ask why he was here.
My throat was so sore that I couldn’t even finish my sentence.
He raised his eyebrows and turned to pour me a glass of water.
When he came back, he wrapped an arm around me to help me
up from the bed. I immediately felt some resistance. I tried to
stay away from him, supporting myself on my elbows.
Ignoring my actions, he held the glass right by my lips. I tried to
take it myself, but he avoided my hand. “Drink it.”
Hearing this, I could say nothing else.
After taking a few sips of water, I felt better.
He helped me lay back down before putting the glass by the bed.
I looked at him as I said, “Thank you.”
He was looking down at his phone, and he murmured in

am pregnant?” If I wasn’t mistaken, it was Trystan who had
taken me to the hospital last night. Since Lanny learned it,
Trystan must have been informed too.
Lanny paused, narrowing his eyes at me. “You don’t want him
to know?”
