A Carefully Planned Fake Death
Chapter 1
I came back to life and immediately dug up
my parents‘ graves.
In my last life, they died of horrible diseases,
leaving behind my three–year–old brother.
I dropped out of school to work, slaving away
for fifteen years until my brother finally got
into a top university.
But at his graduation party, I saw my parents,
who had supposedly died fifteen years earlier,
hugging a girl about my age and calling her
“daughter.”
I couldn’t believe my eyes and went up to
them, but they were disgusted with me.
They told me that I was the daughter of the
mayor that they switched at birth.
“If you weren’t useful, we would have killed
you a long time ago!”
“You got Brian into college. Now your job is
<
done, and it’s time for you to die.”
وو
My mother, dressed in fancy clothes, gave the
order, and bodyguards swarmed me.
The brother I raised just watched as I was
beaten to death.
I woke up again on the day my parents were
buried.
- 1.
“Those two were so unlucky. They were about
to live a good life, and then this happened!”
“Ashley, you can’t be too sad. Brian needs
you now.”
I heard the sympathetic murmurs around me,
but when I looked at the picture in the center,
my heart skipped a beat. I was back.
Last time, I was at school when I got a call
from the village saying my parents had an
accident at the construction site and died in
the hospital.
When I got home, there were two coffins.
I fainted from grief.
When I woke up, my parents were already
buried, and my brother was crying.
I had only two hundred bucks, so I had to quit
school and take my brother with me to find
work.
Without an education and a kid, I could only
find the worst jobs.
Finally, after fifteen years, my brother was
accepted into a top university.
I was so happy, thinking I had finally made my
parents proud.
But at the party I was throwing for my
brother, I saw my parents, who had been
dead for fifteen years.
They didn’t look old and worn out like I
remembered. They were smiling and hugging
a girl who looked about my age.
My parents looked like they’d been living the
good life.
And me? I was their daughter, but I looked
older than them because I was so stressed.
I was pissed and demanded answers, but they
just mocked me.
“You’re just some loser from another family.
You have no right to question me.”
“If you weren’t useful, we would have killed
you a long time ago!”
“You got Brian into college. Now your job is
done, and it’s time for you to die. Don’t get in
my precious Lily’s way.”
That’s when I realized that I was the daughter
of the mayor that they switched at birth.
They faked their deaths to live with their real
daughter.
The brother I raised knew everything, and he
stood by as the bodyguards beat me to
death.
Now, I was back on the day my parents were
buried.

I looked at their smiling faces in the picture
and tried to calm myself. When the coffin was
in the ground and the villagers left, I grabbed
a shovel and went up the mountain.
They wanted to fake their deaths? I wouldn’t
let them!
