- SERAPHINA
- “I’m back,” Ronan’s voice was low and seductive, like a man returning after months away from his lover.
- My heartbeat instantly quickened. So much had happened in the past few days, I’d completely forgotten Ronan was supposed to return to the dorm! Before, with Finn and the other Alphas around, I could somehow handle Ronan. Only now-now I was alone with him. Just the two of us. Behind a closed door.
- The thought alone was enough to rattle me. I was keenly aware of the fact that Ronan wasn’t just any man. He was the man who’d confessed his love to me, kissed me, held me, and made his intentions dangerously clear. He was walking seduction, and worse, he made my wolf act in ways I’d never expected.
- “What’s wrong?” Ronan stepped closer, stopping just an inch away, “Scared?” he teased, raising an eyebrow.
- I looked at him blankly. “Yes, see how badly I’m trembling? I’m barely holding back tears. Your dominance is killing me. Now, would you kindly move in with Asher, or anyone else, just not here?”
- He stared for a beat, then burst into laughter. “Cute,” he said, making my cheeks flush, “I didn’t know you could be this cute.”
- I pressed my lips together, mortified. What part of that was cute? I was a complete bitch. I was trying to kick him out, and he thought I was adorable. What the hell?
- “Would you stop laughing and just get out?” I crossed my arms over my chest, staring at him coldly.
- He chuckled and decreased that an inch between us completely, “Stealing my heart and curling your tiny fingers around my soul, now you want to kick me out? Aren’t you planning to kill me?” the hot breathing fanned slightly against my face, as his violet eyes slid from my eyes down to my lips.
- My heart suddenly raced and lips parted slightly with the heat that his crazy words raised inside me. I looked away and murmured, “Crazy.”
- “Only for you,” he grinned.
- My cheeks burned as I quickly walked past him.
- I knew this Alpha was shameless, but I never realized he was such a flirt. I couldn’t allow myself to be swayed by that. I just had to ignore him and keep our conversations to the bare minimum. Otherwise, he might take things even further.
- With that thought, I walked over to my cupboard and pulled out a light change of clothes for the night. Thankfully, on the way back to the Academy, we’d crossed a deep river. That saved me from having to wait in line for the bathroom. I just needed to change into these clothes and-
- I froze mid-thought, slowly glancing back at the Alpha now sprawled atop his bed. With one leg crossed over the other, he was lazily, boldly, watching me.
- Wait. I wasn’t alone anymore.
- How was I supposed to change with him in the room? The bathrooms would definitely be crowded with other Alphas. That meant…
- I kept staring at him, hoping he’d get the hint. He just stared back, wide-eyed and innocent.
- I clenched the fabric in my hands. He could not be that innocent.
- “I want to change,” I said flatly.
- He tilted his head. “Sure, go ahead.”
- I blinked. Did he seriously not get it? “Are you going to watch me?”
- “I don’t mind,” he murmured, clearly waiting for me to start.
- A small smile curled on my lips. I leaned down, close to his face, and whispered sweetly, “Alpha Ronan, you may not mind, but I really…really do.”
- I gently touched his face and turned it in the opposite direction. “Trust me, if you so much as try to steal a glimpse or get playful while I change…you won’t like the consequences.”
- He shamelessly turned back to me and smirked. “What will you do?”
- I smiled brightly. “I’ll kick your balls.”
- The smirk vanished from his face. A deep frown formed between his brows without another word. He got up and walked around the bed to the window, and stood with his back to me.
- I stared at his broad, toned back, my gaze lingering longer than I meant to as he pulled out a cigarette and lit it. He took a drag, eyes fixed outside but he never once turned around. At that moment, he looked like a completely different person.
- Satisfied, I turned around and began to undress, slipping into my night clothes. I kept glancing back every few seconds to make sure he wasn’t looking.
- What I didn’t know was that Ronan’s eyes weren’t on the view outside but on the glass of the window, watching my reflection instead.
- The corner of his lips curled up the entire time.
