Declan laughed coldly and licked his bloodied lips.

I was somewhat surprised but didn’t want to talk to her.

“He was so obsessed with me… but even after all this drama, he still won’t agree to marry me.”
I made a noncommittal “oh” sound, indicating I’d guessed as much.
When she mentioned Declan, she looked ready to kill him:
‘Said I was just some slut to play around with, that I wasn’t worthy of him.”
‘Ha! That’s not what he said when he was begging me to spice things up with him!”
Seeing she was about to continue her endless complaints, I found the right moment to slip away.
