Chapter 9
Delphine scoffed when she heard Amanda claim to have evidence. She didn’t believe her for a second
The surveillance footage from the upstairs wing had long been destroyed by someone they’d hired–what kind of evidence could she possibly have?
The internal power struggles within the Schmidt family were brutal. Every man in the family vied for control.
There was no way she would have allowed something like a video recording to exist.
She looked at Amanda, instantly shifting into a victim’s role, speaking with righteous sorrow:
“Amanda, you were clearly the one bullying the children. As their grandmother, I believe in kindness and tolerance–but how could you be so vicious as to feed them dirt?”
Amanda nearly rolled her eyes. Whose grandmother was she again?
Delphine was cunning. Though she hadn’t landed a decisive blow today, she could at least try to suppress Amanda’s momentum.
And she’d make sure the old master saw just what kind of monsters her precious grandsons had become.
Eunice, seeing Amanda stay silent, felt even more certain–Amanda had no evidence to back her claims.
Her two children bullied Mark every time they visited. Mark might’ve seemed like a fool, but he always turned the tables on them.
This time, finally, her kids could come out on top.
“Grandfather,” Eunice said, smugly. “Amanda has bad intentions. I’ve looked into her–she’s an orphan, with no background to speak
“Shut your mouth!” the old master snapped. “She’s your uncle’s wife–calling her ‘Amanda” again and again, what kind of manners is that?”
His voice was sharp with warning,
“Eunice, you’re already married. The affairs of the Schmidt family are no longer yours to meddle in. I personally looked into Amanda’s background before letting her into the family. What are you doing–questioning my judgment?”
His imposing presence silenced Eunice on the spot.
What she hated most about her grandfather was how cold–blooded he could be. She herself had been sacrificed in a political marriage. Fortunately, her husband wasn’t too bad to her.
The old master’s sharp eyes turned to Amanda.
“Amanda, do you have any evidence?”
A cold glint flashed through Amanda’s eyes. She glanced at Charlie, luring him in deliberately.
*Old Master, even young children have minds of their own. Mark has been heartbroken ever since what happened to his father, but those three still went out of their way to bully him–especially this little young master. The things he said were downright cruel.”
No sooner had she finished speaking than Charlie lashed out angrily:
“Pift! He’s just a little idiot! A blind little freak! So what if 1 bullied him?”
He’d been tricked by Amanda’s words into blurting out something he normally wouldn’t dare to say.
-Delphine was about to explode from rage,
What the hell was wrong with this kid today?!
The old master turned has furious gaze on Delphine.

Chapter 9
“This is the kind of child you
raised?”
Delphine sneaked a sideways glance at Amanda–calm, composed, and in full control. It was clear she wasn’t someone easy to deal with.
She bowed her head and tried to explain, tone gentle:
“Father, he’s not usually like this. He must’ve been provoked today.”
The old master wasn’t interested in her excuses.
Amanda could tell he was reaching the end of his patience.
She unlocked her phone and played the video for everyone to see.
“Hey, blind freak! Was the mud I fed you tasty?”
“Heh heh, my dad says your dad’s gonna die soon. Great–grandpa found you a stepmom–stepmoms are the worst. You’re gonna die soon too. Then the entire Schmidt family will belong to my dad..”
The old master trembled with fury as he watched the video. So this was what the first branch of the family had been scheming?
Delphine stood frozen, disbelief and fury boiling beneath her surface.
She never thought Amanda had recorded a video.
Rage surged through her like wildfire.
Now she understood–she’d been played.
The old master hated nothing more than internal power struggles.
Just then, the steward’s delighted voice rang out:
Old Master! I just checked on the young master–he opened his eyes! The marriage really worked! The young madam is truly a lucky
star for the Schmidt family!”
To Amanda, the steward’s words were like a lifeline thrown in a snowstorm
The old master gripped his cane with excitement
“Heavens have blessed our Benjamin!”
Then he glared at Delphine.
“Delphine, take your whole damn family and move to the back courtyard. Without my permission, none of you are to step foot in the front courtyard again. As for your eldest son–he doesn’t have the ability to hold power. If he ever gets it, he’ll be swallowed by competitors within an hour. Utterly overconfident. If you want to live a peaceful life, stay in your lane.”
He turned to Eunice, eyes sharp with warning:
“Without my consent, you are no longer allowed in the Schmidt household. Get her out of here! Look at what kind of kids she raised. If the Lu family sees this, they’ll kick her out too.”
Not a single one of them was any good.
All of them like rabid dogs, tearing each other apart for money.
Delphine and Eunice left in a rage, teeth clenched, too scared to talk back.
Only Erin, who had said nothing the entire time, glanced at Amanda with a strange smile before walking off
The old master looked at Amanda warmly.
“Amanda, you’ve been wronged. But thanks to you, Mark was protected. Go get some rest now.
Thank you, Dad”

Amanda nodded sweetly and left with the little one in her arms.
The steward watched her back as she walked away, then turned to the old master with a smile:
“Mister, you’ve really found the young master a good wife this time.”
