Ethan stood at the front of the crowd, and the moment he heard Simon curse at his sister, his eyes turned icy cold.
Now, watching the redhead writhe on the ground, he had to resist the urge to walk over and give him one more kick.
Twisting the rosary bracelet on his left wrist with his right hand, he held back, then pulled out his phone and called Tina. “Send someone to Trinity High to pull the security footage. Contact the legal team. I want a full investigation on Trinity High’s principal and a student named Simon.”
It was fine. He would clean up the mess for his siblings.
Soon, they arrived at Harmony Hospital.
It was the closest hospital to Trinity High.
Outside Simon’s hospital room-
Jimmy kept his head down while Ethan spoke with Tina over the phone.
Stella had gone to ask the doctor about Simon’s condition and now came back.
Nothing serious–just a mild concussion.
She overheard the nurses saying the spot he got hit in hurt like hell, but it wasn’t going to cause any real damage.
Seeing Jimmy still hanging his head, Stella gently patted his head. “You’ve grown up. You’re protecting me now.”
That punch–Stella knew Jimmy had thrown it for her.
Jimmy bit his lip so hard it was nearly bleeding. “Stella, I’m sorry. I caused trouble for you guys. I shouldn’t have fought.”
If only he hadn’t come back, Stella and Ethan wouldn’t have to run around cleaning up after him. Stella even got yelled at because of him.
Stella comforted him, “It’s okay. This kind of thing–Ethan can handle it in his sleep.”
Jimmy looked up through the dark fringe of his bangs, his voice low. “Stella, I swear I’ll study

hard from now on. I won’t fight anymore. Just… please don’t give up on me, okay?”
He was back now. He didn’t want to leave again.
He wanted to stay with them.
He would behave. He would learn. He’d grow up.

Stella froze for a second, then looked at him seriously. “Jimmy, you’re my brother. I would never give up on you. Whether you’re outstanding or not, you’re still my little brother. I’ll never stop loving you.”
Jimmy blinked.
Was that really true?
Blondie’s mom had dumped him because of his attention problems and poor grades.
Could someone who wasn’t good enough still be worthy of love?
Stella went on, “Letting people walk all over us has never been the way of the Marshall family. We don’t start trouble, but we’re never afraid of it either. But we do need to remember–our fists aren’t the only way to solve a problem.”
Honestly, the way Simon talked, it was nearly impossible not to hit him.
His insults were vile.
If Jimmy had just stood there and taken it every time someone said things like that, he’d be too weak to survive in the neighborhood they came from.
So Stella didn’t blame him.
Growing up, their parents had always protected her. Anyone who dared cross her got slapped- into next week.
They’d told her, “We don’t start fights–but we never back down from one.”
Deal with grudges on the spot, they said. Don’t let it fester and make you sick.
They’d always clean up the aftermath. No need to worry.
Now that Ethan had the power to do just that, Stella wasn’t worried at all,
Ethan hung up the call and walked over. “That Simon kid’s been bullying people all over

school. Those slaps of yours were justice. You were the light in the darkness.”
Stella looked up at him, chin raised. “Right? I thought so too.”
Jimmy’s eyes flickered.

Sure, Ethan was saying it was justice… but he knew Stella had done it for him—not for those other kids.
Ethan reached out and ruffled Jimmy’s hair with his rosary–wrapped hand. “Don’t worry. As long as I’m here, nothing will happen to you or Stella.”
Jimmy nodded hard.
Ethan was incredible–he could protect Stella.
When would he be strong enough to protect her?
He couldn’t wait.
Suddenly, the hospital room door opened and a middle–aged woman stormed out.
The moment she saw the three of them, she started yelling,
“Who raised you little bastards? You beat my son up like this? I won’t let you get away with it!”
Ethan’s voice was cold. “That’s verbal assault. Don’t worry, we won’t let you get away with it either.“–
The woman flinched a little at his aura but straightened her back and snapped, “What’s that supposed to mean? You think we’re scared of you? My brother is the principal of Trinity High!”
“That brat even hit my brother once. Should’ve had him thrown in jail right then and there!”
That last part was exactly what Stella had been meaning to ask about.
She turned to Jimmy. “Is that true? What really happened?”
Under his long bangs, Jimmy’s eyes were dark and sharp as he glared at the principal. “It’s true. He deserved it.”
The fat principal saw that look and felt a chill in his gut. He had planned to use the incident to pressure Ethan into compensation, but now-
