The man’s eyes were red, his voice was earnest and pitiful, as if he was about to shed tears for her in the next second. This was the first time Marissa had seen Matt like this, but it was too late, their relationship had ended when they took out that divorce agreement.
Marissa did not answer those words, she just looked on, her eyes calm, not a trace of love for him could be found, not even hatred.
Matt’s heart felt like it was being tightly squeezed, making it hard for him to breathe. His voice trembled as he slowly approached the person he loved.
“I know I was wrong, Marissa. You have to believe me. Not only did I punish you, but those people as well. I won’t ask for a child again. I only want you, Marissa. I only want you…”
She was right in front of him, like his salvation. Matt wanted to hold her in his arms, but he was pushed away by Dwayne.

“Marissa, you said, who exactly was this person…”
The man who used to be high and mighty, knelt down humbly in order to win back the woman he loved. He was willing to give up everything to let her see his true heart, filled with regret and pain.
But Marissa didn’t need it.
“Do you want to know who he is? Marissa gazed into Matt’s eyes.”
The man nodded.
The next second, Marissa leaned in and kissed Dwayne on the back of his head, “Now, he was my boyfriend.”
Not only was Matt surprised, his eyes widened in shock as he watched his beloved woman kissing someone else, but Dwayne was even more surprised. However, he quickly reacted, wrapping his arm around Marissa’s waist and returning a deeper, more passionate kiss.
He didn’t expect that after chasing for several months, he would get the answer today. His mood was like a pie falling from the sky, wishing he could swallow Marissa whole.
Dwayne didn’t care about the people around him. He held Marissa tightly in his arms until she couldn’t breathe, then reluctantly let go.
Marissa took a deep breath, her red lips still moist with saliva. “Now you know, don’t come looking for me again.”
This scene broke Matt’s heart to the point of shattering. He shook his head in disbelief, “This can’t be real, Marissa. Is this just an excuse you came up with? You just want to drive me away, Marissa. I’m not going to leave. I will make you understand that I am sincere.”

The door did not open to him, so Matt could only stand outside listening to the joyful and lively sounds coming from inside.
“Is Dwayne staying over tonight? That’s great, Brenna said happily as she prepared.”
“Well, let the maid clean up the guest room for him, Mom, you don’t need to bother. Marissa’s voice was tinged with a hint of resignation, without any of the coldness she had just shown him.”
“It may rain tonight, so I helped my aunt collect the clothes, Dwayne became more enthusiastic as soon as he took office, which made the Jiang family all smile.”
They were chatting happily in the villa, while Matt stood alone outside the door.
Not long after, it started pouring outside, with thunder roaring down as if striking his heart.
Matt stood still, letting himself be soaked by the heavy rain. He lifted his head and gazed through the curtains, mesmerized by Marissa’s figure, imagining what she might be doing at that moment.
In the past, he used to help Marissa blow dry her hair, get her pajamas ready, and then they would uncontrollably roll into bed, his chest filled with Marissa’s love for him.
He stood in the rain all night, but the door never opened. Matt had no intention of leaving. He would stay until Marissa was willing to see him, and then he would leave.
