Chapter 10
With a loud buzzing sound, something was roaring in his head, Matt felt dizzy and disoriented.
Marissa was dead? How could this be possible!
He took out his phone and immediately dialed Marissa’s number. No one answered, and a mechanical electronic female voice kept prompting him.
He trembled as he pressed his fingers over and over again, only to receive the message “unable to connect” each time.
He suddenly dropped his phone. The annoying sound only stopped then, but where should he go to find Marissa? How could she possibly be in
trouble?
Matt pushed past the assistant unsteadily and tried to run out the door, but Leah stopped him.
“Matt, it’s our wedding now, where are you going?”
She tried to grab Matt, but the man forcefully pushed her away. Cayden and Ava stood in front disapprovingly.
“Matt, what are you doing! Whatever happens, we should finish the wedding first, or else with so many guests, do you want them to see us, the Holloway family, as a joke?” Cayden’s face showed some anger, but Matt completely ignored it. Right now, all he could think about was Marissa. Only after confirming that she was safe could he relax.
Matt pushed Cayden aside. “I’m going to find Marissa, nobody stop me, I’m going to find Marissa!” He shouted.

Matt took a taxi directly to the airport. His mind was in turmoil now.
How could Marissa be dead?
He walked into the airport and noticed the staff bustling back and forth, as if something big had happened. But he didn’t care about that, he just grabbed someone.

“Was the flight to Switzerland today okay? Was it very safe, with nothing happening?”
He urgently wanted to get an answer, but the staff showed a sorrowful expression.
“Sorry sir, the flight to Switzerland today has crashed, the news is being broadcasted…”
At that moment, Matt realized that the broadcast above his head was repeatedly broadcasting the major accident.
“An important event occurred today as a flight from our province to Switzerland took off and crashed in the air fifteen minutes later. All 178 passengers on board perished in the accident.”
“An important event, today, in our province.
“No one survived! These four words were deeply imprinted in his mind, Matt seemed to have lost his soul, muttering to himself with empty eyes.”
“How is it possible… How is it possible, Marissa, how could she really be dead…”
He clearly saw her just yesterday, how could she be dead today…
He wished he could fly to the wreckage of the crashed plane immediately to take a look, he couldn’t believe Marissa was dead just like that!

The staff took out a piece of paper.
“This is the list of passengers on this trip. May I ask if you are a family member of one of the deceased passengers?”
Matt nodded and mechanically found Marissa’s name on the list.
Suddenly, he seemed to regain his senses, looking at the confirmation of death form handed to him by the staff. Marissa, confirmed deceased.
At that moment, everything around him fell silent.
The staff’s lips opened and closed several times, “May I ask what your relationship is with the deceased passenger?”
What’s the relationship?
What relationship… flashed through his mind the various scenes of being with Marissa in the past.
His throat was dry, and his voice seemed to be squeezed out.
“Marissa was my wife.”
The sadness on the staff’s faces was even heavier.
“Please accept my condolences, sir. Your wife has passed away.”
Suddenly, Matt’s vision blurred and his body began to shake uncontrollably.
He took a few steps back uncontrollably, then suddenly lost all his strength and slid down the wall to the ground.
He felt his face was wet, so he raised his hand to touch it, only to find out it was his tears.

“Marissa… Marissa…” His voice was hoarse, each word piercing through
the heart.
Matt did not notice that there were already many people in the airport who regretted just like him. Some of them were constantly questioning the staff how the accident could happen, some were crying loudly, and some were still asking in confusion: why did their loved ones die like this, what exactly happened.
No one could give an answer to this question.
He didn’t know how long he had been waiting until he heard the new content on the radio. Matt followed the radio’s guidance and was led to Marissa’s belongings – some ashes.
He had just wanted to take it away when the staff suddenly took it back, with a look of embarrassment on their face.
“Sir, I’m sorry to inform you that we have found out that Ms. Marissa is already divorced. You must be her ex–husband, so you are not eligible to take her belongings. We will contact Ms. Spencer’s relatives later.”
