Chapter 5
Natalia’s eyes welled with tears as she nodded eagerly. “I will! Always!”
Dante pulled her into a deep kiss while her parents applauded, beaming with joy.
“Let me
Evelyn stared coldly at the scene. Her wolf howled in anguish. “Let me shift. I’ll tear him apart!”
Five years ago, Dante had proposed to her with the same devotion–no, even more. He’d been
choked up with tears when he begged her:
“Evelyn, I will only love you in this lifetime. No other woman can enter my heart. I swear, if I ever cheat on you, I’ll die.”
Evelyn let out a bitter laugh, tears suddenly welling up in her eyes.
It was all fake–vows, love, and even sincerity were all fleeting.
But the pain she felt now was real.
Mechanically, she pulled out her phone, angling it through the partition’s gap.
“Let’s go.”
She couldn’t bear to stay there any longer.
The two of them headed downstairs. Felicity offered to drive Evelyn home, but Evelyn refused.
“Felicity, I’m a mess right now. I need to be alone.”
Felicity didn’t insist, but she repeatedly reminded Evelyn to stay safe.
After Felicity left, Evelyn walked alone through the streets.
The temperature had dropped to minus one degree Celsius, and she was wearing only a thin jacket.
But the cold outside wasn’t nearly as chilling as the one inside her heart.
She didn’t know how long she walked, but suddenly, her phone vibrated. It was a message from
Dante.
Evelyn opened it, and three wedding photos appeared on her screen.
“We took our wedding photos today,” she said. “He even offered to meet my parents and asked me
to become his Luna in front of them.”

“Who says sharing a man or having two Lunas in one pack is a bad thing?” she added with a smirk. “I’m fine with it. The question is–can you accept it? It’s not like I’m the one losing here.”
Evelyn stared at Natalia’s arrogant words, not responding a single bit.
She sent the three wedding photos to Ophelia, along with the pictures of the four of them dining
together, and screenshots of the entire conversation.
“Play these at the wedding.”
With that, Evelyn shoved her phone back into her pocket.
She walked aimlessly, not even noticing a black car racing toward her.
Bang!
She didn’t have time to dodge before the car slammed into her, sending her flying two meters away.
It felt like an eternity before Evelyn regained consciousness. The sharp smell of disinfectant filled
her nose,
and she found herself in a white hospital room.
Dante lunged forward the moment her eyes opened, his dark gaze frantic.
“You’re awake! Are you hurt? Do you need a doctor?”
Evelyn slowly turned her gaze toward Dante. His eyes were red, filled with panic and concern, as if he wished he were the one who had been hurt instead.
Evelyn felt nauseous. The intimate wedding photos flashed through her mind, and her stomach
churned.
Dante, which version of you is real?
“Why aren’t you speaking? What hurts? Should I call the doctor?”
When she didn’t answer, he moved to call for help. She caught his wrist.
In a hoarse voice, she asked, “Why are you here?”
Dante paused for a moment. He was, when the hospital called–right in the middle of dinner with Natalia’s parents.
He had left their table abruptly and rushed over, relieved to find that Evelyn was not seriously
injured.

“I was at the Alpha gathering this evening,” he explained. “Thorne called me about your accident, so I came straight here.”
Evelyn lowered her gaze slightly, staring at him intently. “You just came from the meeting?”
“Yes, Evelyn. I’m exhausted,” Dante replied, furrowing his brow.
Evelyn slowly closed her eyes and said nothing more.
Dante stayed by her bedside until his phone buzzed insistently. He silenced it after the third call, typing a rapid response before suddenly standing.
A minute later, his expression changed to one of agitation. He found an excuse to leave in a hurry.
Just as Dante left, Felicity arrived to visit Evelyn. However, she didn’t look well.
“Guess who I ran into on my way up?”
Evelyn half–sat up in bed and thought for a moment before guessing, “Dante?”
Felicity made a face of disdain. “The third floor of the hospital is the obstetrics department. I took
the elevator up, and as soon as the doors opened, I saw Dante and Natalia. Something felt off, so I
followed the crowd and saw Natalia holding a pregnancy test report. Dante said he was going to be a
father.”
Evelyn froze for a moment, then lowered her gaze thoughtfully, her face showing no sign of anger.
“She’s pregnant.”
