Chapter 3
It had been a gift from Dante–a welcome present worth a million dollars, similar in price to the Porsche he had just given her.
Evelyn couldn’t see what was happening in the car. She pulled her gaze away, feeling as though someone was tugging at her pack link.
After a brief hesitation, she connected. The familiar voice echoed in her mind.
“Clever girl, sending someone to fetch me. I told you–I’d come after she slept.”
Dante’s voice was hoarse, thick with desire and affection. “Did you ask Thorne for my location?”
Natalia’s voice was sweet, almost childish. “I feel sick. The thought of you spending your ‘anniversary with her, knowing you’re going to have sex tonight, makes me feel awful.”
Dante chuckled softly, knowing she was jealous. He reassured her, “I promise, I won’t touch her tonight. Besides, didn’t we just have three rounds two hours ago? Isn’t that enough?”
“I still want more. Hurry back.”
“Little minx. Follow my car. We’ll do it here.”
“You’re such a big bad wolf!”
Soon, the sound of passionate kissing filled the link. Evelyn’s hand trembled as she ended the
connection.
Staring at the cake in front of her, she suddenly felt nauseous. It was as if something was gripping her heart, twisting it, making her feel uneasy, dizzy, and sick to her stomach. The faint mate bond they had now felt as fragile as the red thread she had used to sew words, ready to snap at any
moment.
She picked up the fork and viciously stabbed the chocolate letters spelling “Happy Fifth Mating Anniversary” on the cake, reducing them to a mess.
When Dante returned, her untouched plate and pale face alarmed him. “You’re sick? Let’s see a doctor-”
His tone was filled with concern, but Evelyn turned her head away to avoid his hypocritical face..
“I’m fine. Just lost my appetite after hearing something disgusting.”

“What did you hear?” Dante’s brows furrowed, anxious.
“You don’t want to know,” Evelyn said, her eyes red.
Dante was confused. He stood up and tried to hug her, but she pulled away.
Evelyn stood up, walked out of the bakery, and immediately jumped into a taxi, signaling the driver to take her back to the pack.
“Evelyn, wait for me!”
Dante rushed into the Bentley and followed her taxi.
Evelyn sat in the back seat, watching the scene in the rearview mirror. It seemed almost absurd.
The Bentley followed closely behind the taxi, and the pink Maybach followed the Bentley.
Once they entered the pack’s territory, Evelyn got out of the taxi. Dante rushed to catch up and
grabbed her hand.
“Why are you angry? Was it the accident?”
Evelyn looked up at him, locking eyes with him.
Evelyn studied him–his worry genuine, his guilt only for leaving her at the bakery.
Not a shred of fear for his betrayal.
“Yeah.”
Dante sighed. “I’m sorry. Next time, even if the car’s wrecked, I’ll stay.”
Then his phone buzzed. “Thorne says a rogue’s in our territory. I should check–do you mind?”
Evelyn frowned. A rogue? Pathetic lie.
The eager glint in his eyes betrayed him.
“Go.”
She walked toward the packhouse–then veered to the parking lot. She watched as Dante and
Natalia passionately embraced and kissed in the pink Maybach.
Inside, Natalia purred, “The lingerie is for you. I know your kinks haven’t changed over the years.”

Dante’s dark eyes glowed with joy as he eagerly reached for her skirt, his voice hoarse.
“Are you trying to wear me out tonight? Can’t wait to get started?”
Natalia pinned his hand down, smiling mischievously as she said, “Let’s go somewhere else. like by the lake, don’t you?”
Dante smirked, his throat bobbing with excitement. “Areu afraid the water’s too cold?”
“Tomorrow, you’ll be with me. This is a reward for you,” Natalia winked.
The pink Maybach roared to life and sped out of the pack area.
Just then, Evelyn’s phone buzzed. It was a message from Dante.
She opened it and saw a location by the lake.
Half an hour later, Evelyn sat in the car, staring at the calm lake in the distance.
In the water, Dante and Natalia were both shirtless. Within just a minute, the surface of the lake
began to ripple violently.
Evelyn, her eyes red with unshed tears, stared at the trembling water, her entire body ice cold. With trembling hands, she recorded a five–minute video.
Then, in a hoarse voice, she sent the video to Ophelia with a single instruction: “Play this on the
wedding day.”
With that, she stepped out of the car and walked straight toward the couple in the lake.
