Adam snapped back to reality. “Vivian, I’m sorry. It’s my fault that Carla had to suffer.”
His tone was gentle, and his face was guilt–ridden.
But then he turned and tried to drag me again.
This caused the stitches on my wounds to tear open, and I started bleeding once more.
I fainted from the pain and collapsed onto the ground.
It seemed like Adam didn’t even notice. He dragged me out like I was a ragdoll.
“Laura, are you ever going to stop? You’re putting on such a big show, and in the end, you’re fine.”
“If you think you can avoid taking responsibility for hurting Carla just by staying here, you’re being too naive.”
Adam mocked me.
Just then, Nikki, who had finally managed to get me a spot in the ICU, rushed back.
Seeing the scene in front of her, she almost lost it.
“Adam, are you trying to kill your wife for that side chick of yours?”
“She’s bleeding again. Are you blind?”
Adam was taken aback by her outburst, but then, with an annoyed expression, he lifted his foot and kicked my stomach.
“Nikki, how much longer are you going to play along with this act? I knew all along she was…”
Blood poured from my stomach, spilling out quickly.
It stained the white floor tiles and Adam’s black leather shoes.
His breath caught, but then, with a deep furrow of his brow, he kicked me even harder.

Nikki couldn’t take it anymore. She stormed forward and slapped him hard across the face.
“Get away from her.”
Adam was shoved aside forcefully, and other pack doctors rushed in. They unbuttoned my hospital gown, revealing the gruesome, paping wound on my abdomen.
“What were you two doing? How did her freshly stitched wounds tear open so badly?”
“Prepare for surgery immediately, we need to re–stitch and transtuse blood.”
Adam was questioned by the pack doctor and suddenly seemed helpless because he also saw the gruesome injury on my stomach, the flesh and blood mangled together
“She was faking it, how could this be real…”
Nikki shot him a cold look.
“Adam, you’re the reason she lost the baby, and nearly her life. Are you happy now? Don’t forget, this was also your child.”
Adam still refused to accept it. “No, that’s impossible. The troublemaker was hired by her.”
“I know. She must have hurt Carla, and when she realized I might break the mate bond with her, she’s been playing this whole act. You’re all part of her scheme, aren’t you?”

Nikki rolled her eyes.
Vivian, who had been silent up until now, saw how things were escalating and tried to slip
“Adam, since Laura refuses to cooperate, I’ll go ahead and notify the pack meeting to reschedule. But poor Carla, she’s always been kind to others, and now she’s been attacked like this.”
Adam looked deeply regretful.
“Vivian, go ahead. Comfort Carla for me. Once I’m back, I’ll make it up to her.”

This operation took even longer than the first one.
When she came out, she was surprised to find Adam still waiting outside.
Seeing Nikki’s calm demeanor, Adam breathed a sigh of relief.
He immediately mocked her, “I knew Laura was taking it. If she really had something wrong, how could you stay so calm?”
“Of course, I’m calm. I’m a doctor. If I weren’t calm on the operating table, your wife would already be dead, you know?”
Nikki was fuming. “Laura’s been your Luna for seven years. Did she ever get to enjoy a single day of happiness? She served you like a servant. Her position was even lower than Carla, that maid’s daughter.”
“As a doctor and the Luna of the pack, she must’ve been incredibly busy, but after Luna Ellen fell into a vegetative state, it was Laura who took care of her. Meanwhile, you, the grateful grandson, were off having fun with Carla.”
“I don’t even know how Laura could ever love a heartless bastard like you.
Adam’s face darkened.
“All of this is her fault. If it weren’t for her, my grandma wouldn’t have died. And Carla wouldn’t have been driven out of the nightlock pack for being falsely accused.”
Nikki sneered.
“Only a scumbag like you would fall for Carla’s lies.”
With that, Nikki grabbed a document and tossed it into Adam’s face.
“Luna Ellen’s death was suspicious, and Laura has been secretly investigating it for years. Take a good look at this. See for yourself who the real killer of your grandmother is.”
