Chapter 6
My injuries were severe, and it took nearly two months of recovery at the pack hospital before I was fully healed..
During those two months, Adam put aside his duties to the pack and visited me every day.
Nikki, whenever she saw him, would mock him relentlessly, and Adam, ever proud, swallowed his pride and endured it.
All just to see me.
But sadly, I never opened the door for him
Nikki knew how much I had once liked him, and she warned me, “If you make up with him, I’ll cut ties with you forever.”
I nodded. “Don’t worry, as soon as I woke up, I told him I wanted to break the mate bond with him.”
Nikki frowned. “With the way he’s clinging to you, I doubt he’ll agree to break the mate bond so easily.”
“It’s fine. If he doesn’t want to listen, I’ll take him to the werewolf court and go through legal procedures.”
In the pack hospital, he had left me to die after I was stabbed, while the many pack members watching only waited to see what would happen. There would certainly be someone willing to testify for me.
On the day I was discharged, Nikki had a surgery and couldn’t come with me.
A hospital orderly accompanied me, and just as I was leaving the hospital, Adam rushed over.
He grabbed my hand and said excitedly.
“Darling, I know you’re being discharged today, and I’ve prepared a surprise for you.
“I’ve already kicked Carla out of the pack. How about that? Are you happy? Satisfied?”
I felt nothing
“Adam, I don’t care about you and her anymore.”
“The only thing that can make me happy now is if you sign the bond–breaking deal as soon as possible.”
The light in Adam’s eyes dimined and vanished, He swayed slightly, as if losing his balance.
With: a hurt look in his eyes, he said, “Darling, we’ve been together for seven years. You can’t just say you don’t want this. You can’t be so heartless.”
He was about to say something else when his phone suddenly rang
He was irritated and tried to hang up, but accidentally answered.
Carla’s mother’s sobbing voice came through the phone.
“Adam, ever since you kicked Carla out of the pack, she’s been on a hunger strike. Please come see her.”
“Buy her some gifts to elicer lier up, or she might hurt herself. You know you’d feel guilty about it.”
I listened from the side, and I couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh.
Adam’s face turned red with embarrassment, and he snapped at the phone.
“If your daughter wants to kill herself, let her, I won’t stop her.”
Also, I’ve figured out the truth about my grandma’s death. It was her grudge against my grandmother for not letting me seal the mate bond with her, because she couldn’t become the Luna of the pack. And in a fit of rage, she pushed my grandmother, wheelchair and all, down the cliff. Then she framed my wife for it.”
“She’s a cold–blooded murderer. Let her wait for the werewolf court’s summons.

With a sharp click, the other side hung up.
Adam turned, wanting to claim credit to me, but I was already in a taxi, leaving
In the rearview mirror, I saw Adam, his face full of sorrow, running after the car, looking utterly pathetic.
I closed my eyes, memories flooding back to the year we first met.
I had been an omega orphan taken in by the nightlock pack
Later, I attended high school, and by coincidence, Adam and I ended up at the same school.
He was the school’s golden boy, but despite my background, he never looked down on me. Instead, he admired and encouraged me.
I fell for him at first sight.
After graduation, I returned to the pack and became a pack doctor.
As a token of my gratitude, I visited Luna Ellen. She liked me a lot, thinking I was strong and ambitious,
It was there that I met Carla for the first time.
She was the daughter of a maid in the pack house, acting sweet and understanding. She even said that she wanted to become a great pack doctor like me and support Adam as his trusted aide.
Eventually, she got her wish and became his menter, while Adam and I had already sealed the mate bond.
I treated Carla like a sister, believing Adam did too.
That was until one night when he got drunk. He grabbed my hand, calling me Carla.
He said, “Carla, being with you feels like love. I regret making Laura my Luna. She’s so dull and boring. If it weren’t for my grandma liking her, I would’ve formed the mate bond with you instead.”
