Chapter 98
“Sorry.” A hint of a smile appeared in Woodrow’s eyes. “I won’t
mention it again.”
He glanced at his watch and added, “I’m a bit hungry. Ms.
Drayton, you haven’t had dinner yet, have you?”
“Not yet.” Kaneeta smiled. “I remember I still owe Mr. Hartwell
two meals, but it seems Mr. Hartwell is a bit tired…”
“I’m fine,” Woodrow said immediately. “I still have enough
energy for a meal.”
“Then, may I treat Mr. Hartwell to dinner?”
“It would be rude to refuse such kindness.”
Woodrow turned around and opened the car door for her.
Before long, the car stopped in front of a quaint restaurant. The
main doors slowly opened, and a server in a cheongsam led
them to a private room by the window.
“What would Ms. Drayton like to eat?”
Each of them held a menu. Kaneeta’s fingertip hovered over the

menu, pausing when her gaze landed on the line that read
Osmanthus Sweet Lotus Root.
Memories surged up suddenly. When she was little, her mother
would always make her a plate of osmanthus sweet lotus root
after dance practice–soft, glutinous, and fragrant.
“Eat slowly, this whole plate is yours.”
“Mom, do I look pretty when I dance?”
“Of course you do. Our Neeta is the best little girl.”
A smile unconsciously crept onto her lips. Kaneeta said softly,
“Let’s have an order of osmanthus sweet lotus root.”
Then she looked up at Woodrow and smiled. “Mr. Hartwell, you
can choose the rest.”
Woodrow didn’t stand on ceremony and ordered several dishes.
Kaneeta noticed that all the dishes he ordered were light and
mild–none contained chili or other ingredients that might upset
the stomach.
He still remembered that her stomach was sensitive.
Kaneeta’s gaze softened a little.

After they finished ordering, the server poured them tea and
quietly left.
“Mr. Hartwell, did you manage to take care of everything
during your trip abroad?” Kaneeta asked.
Woodrow picked up the celadon teacup. The rising steam
blurred the fleeting shadow in his eyes.
“The person who needed saving has been brought back.”
But Seraphina was seriously injured.
A few days ago, they had already rescued Seraphina safely, but
at the time her condition was critical, so they had to send her to
a local hospital first.
However, the local medical facilities were very poor. Once
Seraphina was out of danger and had rested for a few days, he brought her back to the country, where she could receive better
treatment in a domestic hospital.
Now, Seraphina still spends most of her time unconscious.
“You went abroad to save someone?” Kaneeta was surprised. “Is
she all right now?”
Woodrow sighed softly. “She’s still in the hospital. She’s a close

friend of my mother’s, and also…”
She was also the person with the best chance of helping
Kaneeta’s leg fully recover.
But given Seraphina’s current condition, she would definitely
need some time to recuperate.
Kaneeta nodded. “If you need my help with anything, just let me
know anytime.”
“I will,” Woodrow replied with a smile.
Now that Woodrow had rescued the person he needed to save,
he probably wouldn’t be in any more danger.
Kaneeta finally felt at ease and began thinking about the project
she had just taken over today. When she spoke to Woodrow,
she seemed a bit distracted.
Wa
“Ms. Drayton,” Woodrow said helplessly, “if you keep this up, I’ll
be very sad.”
