Chapter 94
K, isn’t that just Kaneeta?
“Miguel…” Edmund’s brows knitted tightly, his tone icy. “He’s
Woodrow’s cousin?”
“Yeah, and he’s a genius painter,” Nyasia said in a strange voice.
“I heard he attaches great importance to this exhibition, and
both the domestic and international art circles are paying close
attention to it. Who would have thought he’d use a profile
portrait of Ms. Drayton as the teaser poster for the show?”
Edmund said nothing, only staring intently at his phone screen.
When did Kaneeta meet Miguel? What is their relationship?
She had never mentioned him before.
“Ed, could it be that Ms. Drayton left Calchester so suddenly just
to go to Roseburn to find Miguel?” Nyasia grew more and more
excited as she spoke. “It seems the one connected to her isn’t
Woodrow, but this genius painter!”
“Enough!” Edmund snapped coldly. “Don’t talk nonsense.”
Nyasia pouted. “The facts are right in front of us, how am I

talking nonsense? If Ms. Drayton had nothing to do with
Miguel, why would he put her profile on such an important
poster?”
Edmund tugged at his tie in frustration.
“Ed! Things have come to this, are you still thinking about
Kaneeta?”
“Nya!” There was a warning in Edmund’s tone. “I’ve told you
before, Neeta is my wife. She may have gone too far this time
and I’m really angry, but I know how she feels about me. She
could never truly bear to leave me.”
“You…
Nyasia was almost beside herself with anger. She had expected
to see Edmund fly into a rage and curse Kaneeta, but instead he
was still saying things like this. She couldn’t tell if he trusted
Kaneeta too much, or was simply too confident.
Edmund’s eyes flickered. Remembering he was about to take
Nyasia to Roseburn, his tone suddenly softened. He reached out
and pulled her onto his lap, his voice turning ambiguous:
“Alright, there’s no need for you to be jealous of her. No matter
what, I’m still by your side, aren’t I? Nya, you have to trust me.
No matter what happens, you’ll always have an important place
in my heart.”

Nyasia stiffened in his arms, her nails digging deep into her
palm.
Edmund’s warm breath brushed past her ear, carrying a
seductive heat, but she knew all too well what he was really
thinking.
She forced a smile, her fingertips unconsciously tracing the
subtle patterns on Edmund’s suit. “Ed, you’re right, I shouldn’t let
my imagination run wild. But maybe, once we get to Roseburn,
we really might run into Ms. Drayton there?”
Before Edmund could reply, a sudden ring from his phone
broke the moment.
With one arm around Nyasia, Edmund picked up the phone
with the other and answered the call.
“What is it?”
Whatever the person on the other end said, Edmund’s
expression changed dramatically. “What did you say? That’s
impossible!”
Nyasia was startled by his reaction and looked up at him, only
to see that Edmund’s face had turned a ghastly shade. The
earlier hint of intimacy had vanished without a trace.

When he hung up, Nyasia asked cautiously, “Ed, did something
happen?”
“A very important piece of land in the new development zone,”
Edmund said, his whole demeanor radiating pressure. “It was
already as good as mine, but now, the Drayton family in
Roseburn suddenly wants to get involved.
Nyasia’s voice was taut. “How could something like this happen?
Why would the Drayton family in Roseburn… Wait, could this
be Kaneeta’s doing? Ed, don’t forget, she has a relative who’s a
senior executive at the Drayton Group!”

“But that Mr. Vance is currently in charge of business in
Calchester,” Edmund disagreed. “And this time, it’s people from
Roseburn making a move. Besides, no matter how high his
position, he’s still just one of Mr. Drayton’s subordinates, not
really part of the Drayton family. Would the Drayton family
really go out of their way to target the Kuntz Group so
obviously just for him?”
He paused, then added, “Besides, Neeta wouldn’t target me like
this.”
Nyasia almost laughed in exasperation, but at that moment, a
terrifying suspicion suddenly flashed through her mind.
