Chapter 79
Edmund abruptly pushed away Nyasia, who was clinging to his
neck at that moment.
“Ah!” Caught off guard, Nyasia was shoved straight to the floor,
her knee banging against the edge of the coffee table. She looked
up at Edmund in disbelief.
“Ed?”
“S–sorry.” A flicker of awkwardness crossed Edmund’s face. He
quickly reached out to help Nyasia up, then turned away again, continuing to question Felix on the phone: “She said she’s not in Calchester anymore? Then where is she?”
“I don’t know, she didn’t tell me, and she even blocked me.” Felix replied cautiously, “Um, you can’t blame me for this, right?”
Edmund ignored him and hung up, his expression turning icy
cold.
Nyasia stood there, the sharp pain in her knee from hitting the
coffee table was nothing compared to the shock in her chest.
She stared at the tense line of Edmund’s shoulders as he turned
his back to her, her fingertips unconsciously clutching the folds

of her silk nightgown.
Just moments ago, Edmund had been sweet–talking her, coaxing
her in a low voice, saying how Kaneeta was no match for her.
Yet in the blink of an eye, upon hearing that woman had left
Calchester, he pushed her to the ground.
“Ed, you hurt me…” she said with a sob, trying to elicit Edmund’s
sympathy.
Edmund whipped around, his gaze briefly flickering to her
reddened knee, his brows knitting almost imperceptibly, but his
tone remained laced with unshakable irritation: “I’ll have the
family doctor come over.“”
He took out his phone, but instead of calling the family doctor,
he pulled up his assistant’s number. “Check Kaneeta’s travel
records. Find out as quickly as possible and send them to me.”
Nyasia’s heart sank little by little.
She walked over to Edmund, tentatively reaching out to take his
arm.
Edmund didn’t pull away, but he didn’t look at Nyasia either.
“Ed, don’t worry,” Nyasia said softly. “Maybe Ms. Drayton just
wanted to clear her head. After all, she just resigned, and she

was exhausted before. She might have just gone to another city
for a trip. She’ll probably be back in a few days.”
What Nyasia said wasn’t impossible, but Edmund still felt
hollow inside. The feeling of not knowing Kaneeta’s
whereabouts made his chest tight, almost suffocating.
“Come on, don’t be so anxious,” Nyasia said again, wrapping her
arms around his neck and rising on tiptoe to kiss his Adam’s
apple. “Ed, I know you’re upset right now. Let me help you
relax…”
“That’s not necessary.” Edmund had no interest at all. He took
Nyasia’s hands from around his neck. “Nya, it’s getting late. You
should get some rest!”
Nyasia was still unwilling to give up and continued to tease him,
but Edmund remained unmoved, his expression growing even
colder: “Nya! Stop it.”
“…I understand.”
A flash of resentment flickered in Nyasia’s eyes.
She turned and left. After returning to her room, she threw all
the pillows and blankets from the bed onto the floor.
Edmund, that hypocritical man, had said so many sweet things

to her, but in the end, the moment he heard Kaneeta was no
longer in Calchester, he became so anxious.
Heh, but thinking about it, it made sense.
If he could deceive Kaneeta, couldn’t he deceive her as well?
That woman Kaneeta was just as fake, using this kind of trick to
get Edmund’s attention.
No, she absolutely couldn’t let Kaneeta get her way.
She didn’t want to be just Edmund’s little sister; that wasn’t
enough. She also didn’t want to watch Kaneeta flaunt her
victory in front of her in the future…
Suddenly, her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, Nyasia’s
expression changed dramatically. She went to lock the door
before answering the call.
