Chapter 78
Kaneeta answered the phone, her tone cold: “Mr. Corbin.“”
“Sister–in–law, you finally picked up! Oh, I hope I’m not
disturbing you?” Felix asked.
Kaneeta let out a cold laugh.
If he was really afraid of disturbing her, he wouldn’t have called
again immediately after she declined the first call.
“Mr. Corbin, Edmund and I have already broken up,” Kaneeta
said icily. “Please don’t address me like that anymore, and there’s
no need for us to stay in contact.”
“Huh?” Felix was momentarily stunned, then quickly added,
“Don’t be like that! Sis–uh, Ms. Drayton, we’ve known each
other for years. Even if you really broke up with Ed, there’s no
need to cut ties with all of us, right?”
Kaneeta was decisive: “There’s no need for us to keep in touch.”
Edmund’s group of friends probably knew about him and
Nyasia.
Thinking back, whenever they had gatherings and she was

present, the group always acted a bit strange whenever Nyasia
was mentioned.
Some would avoid her gaze, others would look at Edmund with
a knowing, mischievous glint.
But back then, she never thought much of it, so she never paid it
any mind.
Of course, whether they knew or not, she couldn’t care less
now, and had even less interest in having anything to do with
them.
She didn’t want to get entangled with Edmund again.
“That’s a bit too distant,” Felix persisted shamelessly. “Ms.
Drayton, we’re all friends here. If Ed did anything to hurt you, we can help you beat him up! Ahem, well, that’s for another time. Um, my birthday is coming up in a few days, and I want to
invite everyone out for a get–together. Would you come?”
Before Kaneeta could reply, Felix quickly added, “Ed said he
won’t come, he’s got something else to do, so you don’t have to
worry.“”
“Mr. Corbin, I think I’ve made myself clear enough,” Kaneeta
said, a hint of impatience in her voice. “There’s no need for us to
stay in contact, and I won’t be attending your birthday party.”
Chapter 78
Why did it feel like all of Edmund’s friends were just as dense as
he was?
“Wait, please, don’t…”
“Besides, I’m not in Calchester anymore,” Kaneeta added, to
prevent Felix from pestering her further. “Please don’t contact
me for any reason again, or I won’t be as polite as I am today!”
With that, she hung up without hesitation and blocked all
contact information for Felix and Edmund’s other friends.
Forget it, she’d better get a new SIM card tomorrow.
Just in case these people tried to reach her with a new number.
On Felix’s end, he stared blankly for a moment, then hurriedly
tried to call back, only to realize Kaneeta had blocked him.
“Damn! She’s serious?” Felix broke out in a cold sweat.
He suddenly felt that Kaneeta wasn’t just throwing a tantrum,
as Edmund had claimed.
She really was breaking up with Edmund!
Someone who loved Edmund so much… just how badly must
she have been hurt to be this resolute?
Chapter 78
But that wasn’t his concern now. If he couldn’t get Kaneeta to
come out, he wouldn’t be able to report back to Edmund.
After thinking it over, he decided to relay exactly what Kaneeta
had just said.
He called Edmund: “Ed, I just… uh… called your wife. I told her I
wanted to invite her out for my birthday, but she refused. She
said she’s not in Calchester anymore.”
“What did you say!”
