Chapter 62
After Kaneeta and Woodrow left the club, a car quickly pulled
up in front of them.
Woodrow opened the car door for her, making it clear that he
was inviting her to get in.
“…Thank you,” Kaneeta hesitated for a moment, but still got in.
After all, Woodrow had just helped her. If she refused even to
ride in his car now, that would be far too cold–hearted.
She owed him another favor.
She couldn’t repay him right now, but at the very least, she
should thank him.
The two of them sat together in the back seat while the driver
quietly drove up front. Kaneeta was the first to speak: “Mr.
Hartwell, thank you for what you did just now.”
“It’s nothing,” Woodrow replied calmly.
But at that moment, Kaneeta suddenly felt something was off:
“Why were you there?”
Chapter 62
Could it be that Woodrow was also at that club tonight?
But she hadn’t heard Atticus Vance mention it.
A fleeting trace of discomfort flashed across Woodrow’s
expression.
But it was only for an instant, and Kaneeta didn’t notice.
“I was there tonight as well,” Woodrow said naturally. “A friend
invited me out.”
“I see,” Kaneeta nodded.
Maybe Atticus didn’t know Woodrow was there either. After
all, does Woodrow have to report his every move to Atticus?
She really was being silly.
Seeing that she wasn’t suspicious, Woodrow secretly breathed a
sigh of relief.
His phone vibrated–his mother had sent another message.
“Well? Did you rescue Neeta?”
Woodrow replied: “It’s fine, she’s with me.”
After sending the message, he looked up and glanced at

Kaneeta.
From the moment he picked up his phone to check his messages,
she had sensibly turned her head to look out the window, not
prying into his privacy.
“That’s good. Who was that brat who dared to bully my future
daughter–in–law?”
After sending that, his mother sent another: “By the way, was it
that ex–boyfriend of hers she dated for five years?”
Before Woodrow could reply, his mother sent a flurry of
messages: “What a jerk, still pestering Neeta after all this time.
But honestly, Neeta’s taste wasn’t great back then. That brat is
nothing compared to my handsome son.”
Woodrow frowned helplessly and replied: “Mom, let’s not talk
about Neeta’s private matters.”
“I know, I mean no harm. I just… feel sorry for Neeta. A woman’s
life–how many five years does she have? Neeta is such a good
girl, but she wasted five years of her youth and wasn’t
cherished. Sigh!”
Woodrow’s fingers gradually tightened, a complex,
indescribable emotion flickering in his eyes.

“Anyway, you must treat her well from now on. Don’t ever
bully her!”
Out in public, Woodrow’s mother was the epitome of an elegant
lady, but at home, she was a complete chatterbox.
But Woodrow was different from her; in this respect, he took
after his father–he was a man of few words.
So even though he had a thousand things to say at that moment,
he only replied with a single Mm.
“You brat, can’t you type a few more words?”
“Have you reached Dr. Locke?”
“Not yet. I’ll let you know as soon as I do. Sigh, he’s probably
somewhere with no signal again. I just hope it’s not dangerous.
I’ve already sent someone to look for him, so don’t worry.”
“Okay.””
After finishing his conversation with his mother, Woodrow
looked up and suddenly spotted a pharmacy ahead. He
immediately said, “Stop the car.”
The driver hurried to pull over as soon as he heard.
Kaneeta turned to look at him, puzzled. “What’s wrong?”

“Wait for me a moment.”
Woodrow opened the door and got out, and the driver quickly
followed after him.
