Chapter 61
Woodrow didn’t respond. He simply turned to the side and, in a
voice only the two of them could hear, asked Kaneeta, “Are you
alright?”
There seemed to be a certain power in his voice, inexplicably
easing her taut nerves.
Edmund watched the subtle familiarity between the two, and a
nameless fury shot straight to his head. “Woodrow, what do
you mean by this?”
“Nothing in particular.” Woodrow’s gaze at him was icy cold.
“I’m here to pick someone up.”
“Neeta doesn’t need you to pick her up,” Edmund said stiffly.
Woodrow noticed the red marks on Kaneeta’s wrist, and the
anger in his eyes instantly surpassed even Edmund’s.
Before Edmund could say anything else, Woodrow suddenly
lifted his long leg and kicked Edmund over.
Caught off guard, Edmund fell backward onto the floor, his
back slamming hard against the marble, sending a wave of dull
pain through his chest.
Chapter 61
He looked up in disbelief.
Woodrow actually dared to…
He wanted to question him, but when he met Woodrow’s eyes,
he found himself at a loss for words.
Those eyes, usually so calm and unruffled, now surged with a
nearly violent rage.
“Damn, Ed! Are you alright?”
Felix, who had been hiding and secretly watching, realized
things were getting out of hand. He rushed out and helped
Edmund up.
Then he glared at Woodrow. “Who the hell are you? How dare
you lay a hand on our Ed? Are you tired of living?”
Woodrow couldn’t be bothered to pay Felix any attention. He
just stared at Edmund, his voice harsh and menacing: “Edmund,
you’ve got some nerve.”
“What do you mean by that!” Edmund demanded angrily, but
his fury seemed so pale and powerless in front of Woodrow.
Woodrow suddenly let out a mocking laugh.
Edmund didn’t even know what he was talking about.
Chapter 61
Arguing with him any further would just be a waste of time.
The anger in his heart gradually faded, replaced by a surging
wave of pain for Kaneeta.
She had been with a man like this for five years?
How much silent suffering had she swallowed alone over these
five years?
“Let’s go,” he said, turning to look at Kaneeta.
His voice was now so gentle it was almost unbelievable, as if the
earlier harshness had been nothing but their imagination.
Kaneeta was staring at him in a daze.
Of course she didn’t feel sorry for Edmund; in fact, she felt a
sense of satisfaction… But she hadn’t expected Woodrow to
actually lay a hand on Edmund.
No, not a hand–a foot.
“Stunned?” Woodrow asked.
“Hm? No…” Kaneeta snapped out of it. “Let’s go.”
No matter what, getting away from Edmund was the priority.
Chapter 61
Watching the two of them leave side by side, Edmund wanted
to stop them, but the pain in his abdomen made cold sweat bead
on his forehead–he could barely move.
“Ed, are you okay? Who was that guy, and what’s his
relationship with your wife…”
“Shut up!” Edmund snapped. “What just happened–don’t you dare tell anyone! If I find out you told a single soul, you’re
finished!”
“Alright, alright, I got it,” Felix replied hastily.
Fortunately, this was an upscale club, and there usually weren’t
many guests coming and going. When the conflict broke out
just now, not a single passerby was around.
But still… The more Edmund told him not to, the itchier Felix
felt. After all, he’d recorded a video of the whole thing—if he
didn’t share it with someone, what was the point of recording it?
