Chapter 56
Kaneeta no longer wanted to waste words with Edmund.
She turned to leave, but Edmund suddenly said, “Fine, you do
need a good rest. Next, we’ll be busy working with the Drayton
family in Roseburn. You won’t be of much help with that
anyway; we’ll have to rely on Nya.”
Kaneeta paused mid–step.
“Yes, Mr. Kuntz is right,” she replied sarcastically. “Ms. Kuntz is
truly impressive, being able to establish a connection with the
Drayton family in Roseburn.”
“Naturally,” Edmund replied stiffly.
The reason he suddenly brought this up was simply to provoke
Kaneeta.
Not only did she refuse to come home, now she even dared to
resign!
He had to make her realize that she wasn’t that important after
all!
If she regretted it now, it still wasn’t too late.

But why did Kaneeta’s tone sound so strange?
“Then Mr. Kuntz had better hold on tight to Ms. Kuntz,” Kaneeta
looked back at him and smiled faintly. “After all, Ms. Kuntz can
be a great help to you.”
With that, without waiting for Edmund to say anything more,
she turned away and walked off.
Edmund watched her back, and an unprecedented sense of
emptiness welled up inside him.
It felt as if, with Kaneeta’s departure, she would never return.
That was impossible.
Kaneeta was probably just looking to take a proper break, so she
handed in her resignation to scare him.
He didn’t believe she could bear to leave him.
Even so, Edmund’s mind was still in turmoil.
He turned and went back to the lounge, only to find that
Nyasia’s expression had become rather odd.
But he wasn’t in the mood to ponder Nyasia’s change; he sat
down by the bed, his mind replaying the scene of Kaneeta
turning and leaving.

Surprisingly, Nyasia didn’t immediately cling to him. Instead,
she waited a moment before calling out, “Ed.”
Her call finally brought Edmund back to his senses.
He took a deep breath and turned to Nyasia. “Nya, get in touch
with the Drayton family soon.”
Nyasia’s face changed instantly. “Soon? Ed, is it urgent?”
“Yes, I want to start working with the Drayton family as soon as
possible.”
Seeing her reaction, Edmund frowned slightly. “What’s wrong?
Is there a problem?”
“I…” Nyasia opened her mouth, cold sweat beading on her
forehead.
It took her quite a while to find her voice. “I just think that if I
contact them and immediately bring up cooperation, it would
seem too purposeful. Even though the Drayton family likes me,
we can’t be so blatant about profiting from them, can we, Ed?”
Edmund thought for a moment and nodded. “Hmm, that makes
sense.”
“So this can’t be rushed, Ed. Give me a little more time,” Nyasia

said, clinging to his arm and acting coy.
“Alright.”
Nyasia breathed a slight sigh of relief, but then heard Edmund
say, “By the way…”
“Hmm?”
“Since you know the Drayton family, have you ever met
Matthew’s daughter?”
Nyasia’s heart leapt again.
“N–no, I haven’t. That young lady didn’t travel abroad with her
family at the time, so I never met her.”
Edmund nodded and didn’t ask any more questions.
But suddenly, Nyasia sensed something was off.
She asked unhappily, “Ed, why are you suddenly asking about
her?”
“I’m just curious, that’s all. After all, she’s never appeared in
public,” Edmund said with a smile, reaching out to tap her nose.
“Are you jealous even about this?”
“Hmph, why doesn’t she dare show her face in public? She must

be hideous!” Nyasia said, her face full of spite.
“Yes, yes, my Nya is the prettiest of all.”
