Chapter 50
After thinking for a moment, she said, “A marriage alliance is not something to be taken lightly, so I will treat it with the utmost
seriousness. Since I harro already agreed to it, I will do my best to
get along with my intended partner.”
After speaking, she smiled at Woodrow and added, “You don’t
need to worry.”
“Me… worry?”
“Yes.” Kaneeta nodded earnestly.
She thought that Woodrow was probably asking about her attitude on behalf of the Hartwell family.
As an older brother, it was only natural for him to be concerned about his younger brother’s marriage.
It was a long while before Woodrow finally responded with a
soft, “Mm.”
The car stopped in front of the residence where Kaneeta was
currently staying. Kaneeta thanked Woodrow, and just as she
was about to get out, she suddenly heard him ask, “There’s a
movie premiere on the twenty–second of next month. Would
you like to go together?”
Kaneeta was taken aback and instinctively turned to look at him.
Woodrow’s face was expressionless, but there was a hint of seriousness in his eyes and brows.
In fact, Kaneeta quite enjoyed watching movies, especially the one next month–a masterpiece that a renowned director had spent years preparing, and it was a genre she liked. Despite her busy schedule, she had even found time to follow its news
recently.
But she hadn’t expected Woodrow to suddenly invite her.
On the twenty–second of next month, by then, she would have already returned to Roseburn.
By then, she should have already met Miguel, right?
At that time, what would it mean for her to go to the movies with
Woodrow?
“No, thank you.” Kaneeta smiled politely. “I… don’t really like
watching movies. Goodbye, Mr. Hartwell.”
With that, she opened the car door and got out.
Watching her figure disappear into the residence, Woodrow was

silent for a long time before suddenly curling his lips into a smile.
“Little liar.”
She had lied to him twice in one evening.
No, three times.
She even said she would do her best to get along with her intended partner.
Yet she refused to even go to the movies together.
But it didn’t matter.
They still had plenty of time ahead of them.
She had just come out of a failed relationship; how could he force
her to immediately throw herself into a new one?
For now, the most important thing was to heal her wounds and
chase away her nightmares.
As for everything else, he was willing to wait.
After entering the house, Kaneeta first called Atticus.
“Atticus, if possible, please try not to trouble Mr. Hartwell with

my affairs in the future.”
Atticus was taken aback. “Why?”
“He has already helped me so much before. I owe him a lot of
favors, and if this continues, I’ll never be able to repay them all,”
Kaneeta said.
“But…” Atticus hesitated, as if wanting to say more.
“Atticus, I know our two families are to be joined in marriage.”
“You know?”
Hearing this, Atticus was even more confused.
Since she already knew about the marriage alliance, why would she say such things? Regardless of whether the two of them would end up together, wasn’t it normal for Mr. Hartwell, as a man, to do a bit more in their interactions?
“Yes, but even so, we shouldn’t trouble Mr. Hartwell over every
little thing.”
Atticus gave a wry smile. “Neeta, you’re far too considerate.
There’s really no need to be so cautious. Mr. Hartwell, he…”
Before he could finish, his secretary hurried over to report a
work issue–apparently, something had gone wrong somewhere.

Atticus immediately lost his temper: “You can’t even handle such
a small matter?”
“Atticus, please go ahead and take care of your work!”
