Chapter 40
Nyasia was on the verge of losing her mind.
Since childhood, when had she ever suffered such humiliation?
But it was fine, she just had to endure it for a while. Edmund would definitely find a way to save her…
After Nyasia was taken away, Lila was so anxious she paced in circles. She called Edmund, but no one answered. It was more
than two hours later before Edmund finally called her back.
“Mom, what’s wrong?”
Lila could hear loud music on the other end of the line, along with
the sounds of people drinking and playing games, and even the
coquettish voices of women.
“Where are you?” Lila asked angrily.
Edmund was silent for a moment before replying, “Just out with
a few friends.”
“Nya has been taken away, and you still have the mood to party
outside?”
Chapter 40
“What?” Edmund’s tone immediately grew tense. “What
happened?”
“Isn’t it all because of that Neeta incident!”
“Kaneeta really dared to do this?”
Edmund’s temples throbbed.
He hadn’t contacted Kaneeta all day, waiting for her to come to
him and apologize.
But the whole day had passed, and Kaneeta hadn’t made a move
at all.
He had even tried to subtly ask an employee who had visited
Kaneeta that afternoon.
He asked her if Kaneeta had mentioned him.
But the person said no.
Fine, Kaneeta was really something!
Feeling extremely irritable, he called a few buddies out for
drinks.
His friends brought along a few hostesses, but he didn’t touch
any of them–he just wasn’t in the mood.
Chapter 40
After two drinks, he even subconsciously wanted to call Kaneeta
to report in.
He almost dialed her number before remembering that he and
Kaneeta were still in a cold war.
He grew even more frustrated.
He tossed his phone aside, thinking that if Kaneeta called him
now, he wouldn’t answer.
After hanging out for more than two hours, when he picked up
his phone again, he actually felt a faint sense of anticipation.
He hoped to see a missed call from Kaneeta, or a message from
her.
But there was nothing.
There were only a few missed calls from Lila.

Kaneeta was really going to pursue this matter!
“Neeta is really going too far. Nya has been pampered since she was a child–how could she stand a place like a detention center?”
Lila sobbed. “It’s just a small matter, is it really worth making such a big fuss? Besides, didn’t you say you’d find a way? How come Nya still ended up…“”
Chapter 40
“I…”
Edmund didn’t know what to say.
In fact, before hearing about this from Lila, he had thought
Kaneeta was just talking and wouldn’t really press charges
against Nyasia.
So he hadn’t taken any action.
He hadn’t expected Kaneeta to actually go through with it.
Was she really not afraid of making him angry? Not afraid that
he would never speak to her again?
“Alright, Mom, don’t cry.” Edmund forced down his irritation.
“There’s still time to fix this. It’s not really a big deal anyway.“”
“I don’t care, just get Nya out of there!”
“Don’t worry.”
Edmund hung up and called to arrange for his men to handle
Nyasia’s bail.
He really should have gone himself—he was worried about
Nyasia too.
But for some reason, he just felt restless, so he simply left it to his

subordinates.
After hanging up, he slumped on the sofa, sighing repeatedly.
“Ed, what’s wrong?” one of his buddies came over and asked. “You
look like something’s on your mind.”
After speaking, he suddenly remembered something and teased,
“What’s up? Is it because your dear little sister came back from
abroad and is now fighting with your girlfriend for your
attention, leaving you caught in the middle and torn both ways?”
His buddies knew a bit about what was going on between him
and Nyasia.
Of course, none of them would ever tell Kaneeta.
Hearing this, a bitter smile tugged at the corner of Edmund’s
mouth.
If only things were really that simple.
