Chapter 25
Edmund took the flowers, then stood up and walked over to
Kaneeta, handing the bouquet to her himself.
“Neeta, don’t be angry anymore. Let’s make up, okay?”
In front of her was a large bouquet of vibrant red roses.
Suddenly, Kaneeta remembered that when Edmund confessed his feelings to her years ago, he had also held a bouquet of red
roses just like this.
Back then, his eyes were so bright, as if she was the only one in
his heart and in his gaze.
How could a person be so hypocritical?
It was disgusting.
“Neeta?”
Edmund held the flowers for a long time, but Kaneeta still didn’t
reach out to take them.
Just at that moment, his phone rang.
He had no choice but to set the flowers aside and answer the call.
Chapter 25
“Mom? You’re here? Neeta and I are eating out… Okay, we’ll come
back right away.”
After hanging up, he said to Kaneéta, “My mom is here, she’s at home now, urging us to hurry back.”
Edmund’s mother had always lived at the Kuntz’s manor, which
was quite far from the city center, and would occasionally come
to visit them.
Kaneeta was just about to say something when Edmund cut her
off: “Neeta, no matter what conflicts we have, let’s not worry the
elders. You know my mom’s health isn’t good.”
“Then you go back first,” Kaneeta said.
“My mom just said on the phone that she misses you. If you don’t
come back with me, how disappointed will she be?”
What he said made Kaneeta hesitate.
Edmund’s mother had always treated her very well, a kind and
gentle elder. Her warmth had brought much comfort to Kaneeta,
whose own mother had passed away.
Besides, if his mother ever found out that her son and adopted
daughter had that kind of relationship…
She would be heartbroken.
Chapter 25
Her health really wasn’t good, and Kaneeta didn’t want her to be
too upset.
“Let’s go.”
Seeing that Kaneeta no longer refused him, a satisfied smile
appeared at the corner of Edmund’s lips.
He thought Kaneeta was starting to calm down.
He just knew that as long as he coaxed Kaneeta a little, she would
always make up with him.

Meanwhile, Nyasia was sitting at home, acting spoiled with her
mother, Lila Thorne.
“Mom, we haven’t seen each other in years. How come you don’t
miss me? The first thing you ask about is that Kaneeta?”
“Silly child, of course I miss you,” Lila patted her hand. “I saw your
brother and your sister–in–law weren’t home, so I thought they
were working late again, that’s why I asked.“”
Nyasia’s expression darkened. “What sister–in–law? She…”
“Nya!” Lila cut her off directly. “Neeta is your sister–in–law, and
you’d better remember that! Cough, cough…”
Chapter 25
She suddenly started coughing, and Nyasia hurried to pat her
back.
“I know, Mom. Look at you, why are you getting so worked up all
of a sudden?”
