The Other Wife CH 12

Chapter 12

Edmund’s fury only made Kaneeta seem all the more unshaken

She said, Mr. Kuntz, if I remember correctly, you told me we should always separate work from personal matters.”

Edmund’s pupils shrank

Meanwhile, she continued, So, suddenly this rule doesn’t apply

anymore when it comes to Nyasia?”

I know what I said. Still, you shouldn’t have thrown juice at her.”

He yanked his tie loose in frustration

She keenly picked up something from his words

You know deep down that I didn’t throw coffee at her face in the

pantry, don’t you?”

MA

He knew everything

But he still took Nyasia’s side

Edmund looked away, not daring to meet her gaze anymore

Nya…”

In fact, he knew what had happened when he saw Kaneeta’s

reaction

Kaneeta didn’t throw the coffee at Nyasia’s face

It was Nyasia who had staged the accident

But he couldn’t bring himself to reprimand Nyásia

After all, she had suffered enough. All these years, she had loved

him hopelessly, the man she could never be with openly due to

their adoptive bond. She went abroad and got married, only to

end up with bruises left by her monster exhusband. And despite

her longing for children, she couldn’t conceive

He couldn’t bear to say any harsh words to her at all

So, he could only resort to blaming Kaneeta

But now, as he looked into Kaneeta’s eyes, he was suddenly at

loss for words

In fact, Kaneeta wasn’t surprised

He had helped Nyasia cover up her orchestrated car accident

It made perfect sense that he’d side with her on such a trivial

matter

After several minutes, Edmund said, his voice softening a lot

Chapter 12

Alright, Neeta. Nya can be quite impulsive somet

hold it against her.”

He stood up, walked over to Kaneeta, and held her hand. I heard

the latest designer bag is gorgeous. Do you want it? I’ll buy it for you, OK?”

She pulled her hand away. I don’t need it.”

Who did he hear it from? Nyasia

He wanted to buy each of them a gift again

Neeta, for my sake, don’t be upset anymore, OK? Seeing you like

this breaks my heart.”

When she had thrown a tantrum, he’d coax her like this

Back then, she had thought he meant every word. Yet now, she realized how hypocritical he was, and it made her sick

Chances were, he coaxed her so patiently all for Nyasia’s sake

And as it turned out, she was right. Edmund continued, Besides, Nya was already in a terrible mood today. It was about the projectshe’s just taken over and still is unfamiliar with a lot of things. The clients gave her a hard time today. Could you help her? You don’t wanna see all your hard work go to waste, right?”

Chapter 12

Of course. I’ll never joke about the effort my team and I make,”

she said

Hearing this, he figured she had agreed to help Nyasia. Just as he

was about to breathe a sigh of relief, she said, But I won’t help

Nyasia either.”

YouHis expression darkened again. Neeta, cut it out, or I’ll be

mad for real”

Kaneeta loved him so much. He was so certain she’d be afraid

after he said this

She’d panic for sure

But he was wrongshe just looked at him expressionlessly

Noticing this, he panicked

How could it be? How come she didn’t have any reaction at all

Could it be that she no longer loved him that much

That was impossible

Even he didn’t realize how panicked he was. He stared at her face without blinking, searching her eyes and expression for even the

slightest trace of nervousness or sadness

Just then, his phone abruptly rang, snapping him out of it

Chapter 12

He glanced at Kaneeta deeply before walking back to the desk

and picking up his phone

It was a call from Frankie Carter, one of the clients

Under normal circumstances, Edmund’s clients wouldn’t directly

call him. After all, he was the CEO of the Kuntz Group, and his

time was certainly not to be wasted on trivial calls

Maybe Frankie was really pissed this time

He answered. Frankie maintained politeness, but the firmness in

his tone was not to be ignored. Mr. Kuntz, we insist on having

Ms. Drayton handle the project. Changing the project lead is as

good as ruining it. If Ms. Drayton is to be replaced, from now on

we will cut off all collaborations with the Kuntz Group.”

Edmund was deeply displeased, but losing Frankie, a very

reliable client, was something he didn’t want to see

So, he could only agree to Frankie’s request reluctantly

After putting the phone down, he looked at Kaneeta

Neeta, you may continue to take charge of the project. NyaShe

can assist you.”

Even till this point, he still wouldn’t give up, wanting to include

Nyasia in the project

Assist me?Kaneeta sneered. Mr. Kuntz, if I’m right, I’m holding

all the cards now.”

Hearing this, he frowned slightly. What’s that supposed to

mean?”

It means, if you want me to handle the project. Nyasia must exit

it completely. From now on, she has nothing to do with it

anymore.”

Nyasia happened to be walking out of the lounge. Hearing this

she shrieked, No, Ed!”
