Chapter 17
“You must listen to the doctor and take good care of yourself!”
Seeing her grandmother’s white hair, trembling in pain even
while talking, but still thinking of her, her heart ached.
The doctor said if her grandmother had come later, amputation
might have been necessary. Just thinking about it scared her.
Her grandmother was injured for several days, but thought it
wasn’t serious and used herbal medicine at home.
Always frugal, afraid to trouble her descendants, she felt little
aches would pass.
Even after breaking her leg, she gritted her teeth and endured
until the pain was unbearable, then came to the hospital.
Outside the corridor, Dominic handed Aria a cup of warm
water. “You’ve been busy. Have some water first!”
It was all his fault.
Because of family reasons, he dropped out of school early, had
low education, and earned little.
Chapter 17
Whenever money was needed, their biological mother always
asked Aria.
He didn’t want that either, but he truly couldn’t come up with
the money, so he kept silent.
Aria took the cup and drank a few sips.
Dominic glanced at the ward, hesitated, then said, “You probably
already figured it out, Mom.”
“She’s not my mom!” Aria’s eyes reddened, and she looked up
sharply at him.
No matter the reason, the harm Ivy caused was done. She could
never pretend it never happened.
Dominic sighed helplessly, “Aria, don’t blame Mom. She actually
cares about you.”
Aria sneered coldly. “If you came here to be a messenger, there’s
no need. The whip didn’t hit you, so it doesn’t hurt you. Of
course, you talk nicely.”
“Take good care of Grandma, then leave. Call me if anything
comes up!‘
‘Ivy care about me? Even Dominic probably didn’t believe that!‘
Aria wondered.
Chapter 17
When Aria got back to the Whitmore Mansion, it was already
nine at night. She was surprised to see Asher there.
Asher sat on the sofa, staring down at his phone, fingers
scrolling occasionally, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
Like he’d just found some priceless treasure.
Naturally, it made anyone curious what he was looking at.
Aria quietly walked closer. He didn’t notice, showing just how
focused he was.
On his phone were some wedding photos they took at the beach, Asher and Tessa smiling so happily.
A sharp sting hit Aria’s heart.
Back in her previous life, at this exact time, Asher hadn’t
reached out to her. She saw their wedding pictures on Tessa’s
phone instead.
Sensing the odd gaze, Asher glanced back at Aria behind him
and quickly locked his screen. “Aria, you’re back.”
Aria nodded, her tone flat. “Hmm, the wedding photos look nice. Good eye!”
After running to the hospital, Aria felt exhausted. Seeing

someone she didn’t want to face made her even more drained.
Truly, it was body and mind both weary.
She poured herself a glass of water and downed it.
Asher hurried over, explaining anxiously, “Aria, it’s just for
show. It won’t affect us at all.”
“Tessa is sick and emotionally unstable. To avoid worsening her
condition, we just have to meet her demands.”
‘It won’t affect us, but it sure bugs the hell out of me, she
wondered.
Clearly, he loved Tessa, yet still had to provoke her. How low
can you go?
Aria set the glass on the table. “Oh, you made a special trip just to
tell me that?”
Back when she chased after Asher like a puppy, he never came
to her on his own.
Now she suddenly stopped pestering him, and it only triggered
his rebellious side.
People really are messed up.
When you love someone, they seem cheap and annoying; when

you stop loving them, you poke around for signs of love.
The loved always end up clueless.
She didn’t need Asher’s love anymore.
Even the best thing, if missed at the right time, just turns into
cheap garbage.
“Of course not.” Asher got up from the sofa and walked toward
Aria.
“I heard you started attending Professor Jasper’s classes again.
Didn’t you like his lectures before? Why suddenly want to take
them now?”
Aria snorted inwardly. This guy could really spin anything
however he wanted.
