Chapter 14
She was three minutes late, and Noah didn’t look pleased. He hadn’t called her over to spend time with him; he wanted her to serve hist
mistress.
The mistress was a minor celebrity, spoiled and willful. She leaned against Noah and looked at Harper with hostility, “Brother Yao, is she the woman your family found for you?”
To please the woman, Noah didn’t hesitate to humiliate Harper, “Yeah, it’s her.”
“Where does she deserve you?”
The woman suddenly sat up, rolled down the car window against the cold wind, and shook Noah’s hand, “You can’t marry her. No way!”
“Okay, okay.” Flattery always worked on Noah. “I’m giving her to you. You can take it out on her.”
The two of them sat in the business car, warm and comfortable, looking at Harper as if she were a joke. She had just been drunk and vomited. The wind carried away the smell from her body. She stood in the wind, pale and haggard. Their teasing words entered her ears, but she was unmoved.
As long as Ava was at ease, she could endure anything.
Noah opened the car door and called out to her like a servant at home, “Hey, do you remember what you promised me last time?”
“I remember,” Harper lowered her eyes.
“Mia’s assistant is sick. You’ll follow her for a few days and do whatever she says.”
Chapter 14
Noah was young and childish. To make Harper dislike him, he resorted to such tactics. He was looking forward to Harper getting angry, but she was too easy to control. She agreed to such unreasonable demands, “Okay, sure.”
Noah was taken aback, “I see you really have no temper. You brought this on yourself.”
After a week–long business trip, Mason was busy with work and only found out upon returning that Harper had been spending time with Noah lately.
Ethan said with a teasing tone. “It’s said that she’s with him, but in reality, she’s serving that minor celebrity he’s involved with.”
“Serving?”
How could Harper, who was born pampered and raised to be served, be serving others?
“You’ve been out of the country these days,” Ethan shook his head and leaned back into the leather sofa, tilting his face up as the dazzling light swept across his eyelids and nose bridge, “You didn’t see the way Harper was kowtowing. I didn’t even feel like messing with her anymore. It was too boring.
Being teased by Ethan, being humiliated and made to eat garbage by Sophia, and now being treated like a servant by Noah–this was not something an ordinary person could endure.
This time, Mason had to doubt whether Harper had truly changed her nature. “Where is she?”
Ethan opened his eyes, “What?”
“Where is Harper?”
Before coming, Ethan thought Mason wanted to see Harper’s miserable and humble state with his own eyes. But when he really saw it, he sat in the car and was silent. The cigarette between his fingers was almost burned to the end. The white smoke blurred Mason’s eyes, and his expression was gloomy and inscrutable.
This time, Ethan couldn’t read what he was thinking.
Through the car window, Harper was dragging two extra–large suitcases and loading them into the car. She was so thin, but her arms were strong. With a lift and a push, the suitcases were put into the car.
In the business car, the minor celebrity sat comfortably and didn’t ask the driver for help. She left all the work to Harper.
Harper made several trips alone to move the items into the car, but she didn’t even have the right to get in the car. The woman said something, and Harper nodded and ran out quickly.
When she came back, she was holding a cup of coffee. She handed it in, but within two minutes, the coffee was splashed on her face.
The commotion was so loud that it woke Noah, who was sleeping with an eye mask in the car. He looked groggily and was startled by Harper’s disheveled appearance, “What happened?”
He was about to take a tissue for her.
But his hand was held down.
“Noah, she knew I was on my period and still bought me iced coffee. On purpose, right?”
