Chapter 5
Joshua kept calling me, but no one ever picked up.
The unease in his heart kept growing.
He knew I wouldn’t just ignore him like this–so why wasn’t I answering?
It’s just a few years off my life. What’s the big deal?
Before, I gave up my health and luck for him without a second thought.
The reporter’s body still lay on the road in front of the car, and Joshua was sweating all over from fear.
With shaking hands, he tried calling me again.
“Priscilla, please… pick up, I’m begging you, answer the phone…”
Out of nowhere, Amelia stormed over and grabbed the phone from Joshua, hurling it to the ground.
The screen cracked instantly. Her face twisted in rage.
“Useless!”
She snapped loudly, jabbing her polished nails into Joshua’s chest. “You’ve called her over ten times, and she still won’t answer. She clearly doesn’t want to help us.
“Didn’t you say that she would give up everything for you, even her life? So what’s going on now?
“You can’t even handle a blind woman. What’s the point of keeping you around?”

Chapter 5
Joshua’s face went ghost–white, and he grabbed her arm tightly. “What the hell is wrong with you?
“If you hadn’t insisted on dragging us out here, none of this would’ve happened.
“If you hadn’t stepped on the gas and run, that guy wouldn’t be dead. And now you’re blaming me?”
Amelia suddenly fell silent.
Her face turned pale instantly. “You… shut up!”
Her voice suddenly turned sharp, like a cat that had just been stepped on. “Joshua, what do you mean?
“Sure, I suggested coming out here, but you agreed too!
“And you didn’t stop me from driving off either! So why are you putting all the blame on me now that someone’s dead?
“Shouldn’t Priscilla be the one you’re mad at?
“If she had just helped us like before, none of this would have happened!
“Now she won’t even pick up your calls. You should reflect on yourself…”
“Shut up!”
The two of them started arguing fiercely in the car.
Joshua’s eyes were cold and dangerous, and his mind was a complete
mess.
“Let’s go! We’re heading back to find Priscilla!”
He still believed deep down that I wouldn’t turn him away.

Chapter 5
Since Amelia had no better ideas, she just agreed and kept quiet.
Together, they rushed to carry the reporter’s body down the hill and dumped it. After cleaning up the scene, they sped off toward home.
“Priscilla, where are you?”
“Priscilla, Joshua is back…”
As soon as the car stopped, Joshua jumped out and ran straight toward the
house.
He was desperate to see me.
But when he opened the door to my room, all he found was an empty space. The room was empty, the bed neatly made, and I was gone.
“Priscilla…”
He looked totally panicked.
The way he said my name was shaky and weak.
He reached for his phone to call me, but then heard mine buzzing from
the trash can. A terrible sense of dread washed over him.
Mila and Niko woke up from the commotion and rushed over.
Joshua’s face turned so dark it looked like a storm cloud. He suddenly kicked over the coffee table, and the glass smashed loudly on the floor.
“Where is Priscilla?!”
His voice exploded through the house, so loud and fierce that Niko backed away, trembling.
Mila pointed toward the back door, her hand trembling. “I think I saw Ms.

He grabbed her shoulders, his fingers digging into her skin. “She’s blind! Where could she possibly go?
“Who upset her? Why did she leave?”
“Ring, ring, ring!”
Just then, my phone started ringing.
Everyone in the room froze, barely daring to breathe.
