On the phone, his secretary continued: “Mr. Sullivan? Are you still there?”
“Several advertisers are waiting. Can Director Klein come right away?”
Mason took a deep breath. “Fine, I’ll bring her over immediately. And try calling Charlotte.”
He hung up quickly, not giving his secretary a chance to refuse.
The company was Charlotte’s brainchild. Surely she wouldn’t abandon it?
He urgently brought Sophia to the company, though it wasn’t clear if he was more motivated by the advertisers or his desperate desire to see Charlotte.
Throughout the journey, Sophia remained unhappy.
They were supposed to get married today, but instead, they had to deal with some stupid company problem.
Once at the company, Mason immediately searched everywhere for Charlotte.
His secretary sighed. “Mr. Sullivan, Ms. West didn’t answer her phone.”
Mason was stunned. Before he could react, his secretary handed him a stack of documents. “Sir, the advertisers are still in the conference room waiting for an explanation.”
Mason took a deep breath, telling himself it was okay. If Charlotte wouldn’t come back, he would personally go get her.
Composing himself, he walked into the conference room. Several advertisers simultaneously slammed their proposals on the
table.
“Mr. Sullivan, is this your company’s latest proposal? We only asked for minor revisions, but how did it become so terrible after editing?”
“Exactly! It’s unreadable. Ms. West’s previous proposals were never like this. What happened?”
“Are you two having marital problems?”
Several advertisers shook their heads. “Call Ms. West out here. We need to talk to her directly.”
“I designed the proposal. I’m now Sullivan Group’s director, so any questions should come to me. As for Charlotte, she’s resigned and gone who knows where.”
Sophia hadn’t grasped the gravity of the situation and slapped her bag on the table. “What’s wrong with my work?”
“No wonder.”
Several executives shook their heads. “Young lady, are you even twenty?”
Sophia responded indignantly: “What does age have to do with anything? What, you prefer older women?”

One executive stood up. “Forget it. Let’s not collaborate anymore–unless you bring Ms. West back.”

“No collaboration? Fine! Let me tell you, Charlotte divorced Mr. Sullivan From now on, I’ll be Mrs. Sullivan.”
The executives glanced at her before fixing their gaze on Mason.
“Mr. Sullivan, is this true? You divorced Ms. West?
Mason remained silent, his face darkening to an extreme degree.
He had always known that Sullivan Group couldn’t function without Charlotte.
But he hadn’t realized that Charlotte had long been planning to leave him, to leave Sullivan Group.
“Please give us another chance. I’ll make sure you’re satisfied.” Mason stood up, apologetic. “After all, the advertising department was built by Charlotte. Many talented people remain on the team.”
“Mr. Sullivan, come quick! Everyone in the planning department is threatening to resign!”
“What? Have they lost their minds?”
Sophia rolled her eyes in annoyance. “If they want to leave, let them all go. Good riddance!”
“What are you saying?”
Mason reprimanded her. These were talents Charlotte had cultivated–how could they be let go so easily?
“Mr. Sullivan, they all say they’re resigning to join Reed Group across the street! They say…”
The staff member lowered his head, hesitant to continue.
Mason frowned. “Say what?”
“They say Charlotte is now the advertising director at that company. They all want to follow her! They say Director Klein knows nothing about advertising! That she’s only been in the department a few days and has turned it into a complete mess. They refuse to work under someone like her.”

The executives stood to leave. Mason didn’t even have the energy to try to keep them.
“Mr. Sullivan, you’ve made your bed. Now lie in it.”
Before leaving, they cast meaningful glances at Sophia.
Sophia huffed, “What’s the big deal? So what if she’s older and more experienced? When I’m thirty, I can also…..”
“Even at thirty, you won’t be worth a single strand of Charlie’s hair.”
