Chapter 20
I watched my two most beloved people seriously saying things I couldn’t understand.
I frowned and muttered: “Have I been alone for too long?”
“Do they have secrets behind my back now?”
Maverick and Bella slowly walked out the door.
“Maverick even decorated the car with white roses.”
I was somewhat surprised, suspecting today was a very special day.
I really wanted to find a phone to check the calendar.
As the car drove down the road, I kept anxiously watching everyone inside-
The driver was driving and not looking at his phone.
wasn’t
looking at his phone.
The assistant held a basket of white petals and also
“Maverick.siting formally? What is he nervous about?”
I was puzzled and looked at Bella.
Bella was holding the bunny pillow and had no phone.
“The bunny pillow was brought too? Even Bella looks somewhat serious?”
They seemed to have a unified goal.
I felt somewhat isolated and a bit disappointed.
Though this wasn’t quite accurate–they weren’t doing it on purpose.
The group arrived at my cemetery.
The driver took out a bouquet of white roses from the car’s trunk.
“More roses?”
I didn’t remember having a particular favorite flower.
Bella walked in front, the assistant followed with the flower basket.
Maverick took the flowers and walked last.
I floated ahead to my own grave, only to find my tombstone was also decorated.
Draped in white gauze, adorned with white roses, with a bouquet placed directly below the photo.
I couldn’t remain ignorant any longer.
“Maverick, he…” Really wouldn’t regret this?
But I still found it hard to believe what was happening.

Chapter 20
“Maverick, I’m dead.”
With red–rimmed eyes, I turned to look.
Bella and the assistant were scattering petals.
Maverick, holding white roses, was slowly walking toward me.
“Paisley, I… I’m here.”
Maverick’s voice was trembling.
He knelt on one knee before my grave, offering the flowers with a letter among them.
Then he took out a ring box from his chest, opened it, and placed it beside the flowers.
Inside the ring box were two rings, one large and one small.
I looked carefully–our names were engraved inside the bands.
Maverick took out the large one and put it on, then took the letter from the flowers.
I recognized the envelope–This is the letter he had tucked in his diary for me.
Maverick carefully took out the letter
paper.
There were two sheets, one of them new.
“Paisley, I like you.”
“Having watched you grow up, I realized this very late.”
“And it wasn’t until you got married that I discovered I was the one who couldn’t let go.”
Maverick read the newly written letter, his voice trembling badly.
“I missed your courage, missed your feelings, and even…”
“Even missed your life.”
He paused and took a deep breath.
“Paisley, I was late.”
“But fortunately, I’m still blessed to understand your feelings for me.”
“I’m still blessed to have Bella’s approval.”
He exhaled solemnly.
Taking the lighter from his assistant, he lit both sheets of paper.
“Paisley, I hope I can still be blessed with your approval.”
The papers burned to ash bit by bit with his words.
I felt somewhat at a loss.
And felt so much accumulated in my heart, all about to pour out through the trembling in my chest.

Chapter 20
Happiness? Regret? Had I truly gotten what I wished for?
“Is this moment with Maverick still what I desired?”
In this instant, I felt dizzy and pained as I hadn’t for a long time.
“Mommy, we are family.” Bella said.
“He is Bella’s daddy now, and he’s family with us too.”
I looked at Bella’s serious little expression and gradually calmed down.
