Yoseph’s body swayed, and he collapsed to the ground, repeatedly muttering “impossible” under his breath.
His phone crashed to the floor, the screen shattering into pieces. “Yoseph, what’s wrong? Get up!”

Mom rushed to help him up, but when she heard from his lips that I was dead, she flew into a rage, shaking him violently and shouting, “What are you talking about? What happened to Freya?”
“Freya… she’s dead.”

The family rushed to the police station by car, praying over and over during the ride that there had been some mistake.
Under the white sheet, a strand of my ash–brown hair was visible.
Yoseph’s hands trembled slightly, his eyes bloodshot as he pulled back the white cloth covering my body.

The cold morgue echoed with my parents‘ cries and wails.

Yoseph held onto his patience, using his last bit of rationality to reason with her gently, only to be met with Sonia throwing a tantrum like a spoiled princess.
She went on and on, hurling insults and complaints at me,

“Get out right now! She’s your sister–don’t you have any compassion?”
Finally, this time they didn’t take Sonia’s side.
Yoseph, overwhelmed with grief and losing control of his emotions, screamed at Sonia with bloodshot eyes.
