Chapter 5
When Violet saw Xavier’s message, a small spark of hope flickered in her chest.
Without hesitation, she replied: “Okay.”
Mentally, she agreed a whole month was too long to wait. One week would be enough.
In just seven days, she planned to leave for good and finally put an end to everything with Gabriel.
The moment Violet entered the villa, she spotted Ruby stretched out on the couch, wearing her own nightgown.
That nightgown–her personal nightgown.
The creak of the door made Ruby look up, a

sneer curling her lips. “Back so soon? You look terrible.”
She rose and sauntered over, tilting Violet’s chin up with her fingers.
“Tsk, tsk. Look at that pale face – you’d think you were on your deathbed.”
Leaning in close, Ruby proudly showed off the marks on her chest. “See these? All from Gab. Last night was… unforgettable.”
Her tone grew bolder as she leaned toward Violet’s ear, whispering mockingly.
“Last night, in your bed, he said he only feels like a real man with me. That you just lie there like a dead fish–completely boring.”
The moment Ruby finished speaking, Violet’s eyes darkened with fury. Without hesitation,

she slapped Ruby hard across the face.
“Ruby, know your place. I’m still Gabriel’s wife. You’re just the other woman.”
“If you push me any further, I’ll hold a press conference. The world will know you’re nothing but a maid’s daughter who stole her sister’s husband.”
Violet had no desire to argue, but Ruby was determined to dig her own grave.
Just as Ruby prepared to strike back, she caught sight of Gabriel approaching. Her legs gave way, and she collapsed to the floor.
“Vivi, I’m sorry–I never should’ve come back! I’ll leave today! I’d rather die than stand in your way!”
Before Violet could react, Ruby sprang up

and rushed toward a pillar.
Gabriel was quick to catch her.
“Rue, I invited you here. Anyone who has a problem with you has a problem with me!”
Violet’s lips twisted into a bitter smile.
Supporting Ruby, Gabriel spun and ordered coldly, “Violet, apologize to her!”
“I didn’t do anything wrong. I have no reason to apologize. Gabriel, aren’t you even curious where I was last night?”
He frowned. “Did you-”
She cut him off. “Aren’t you wondering-”
“I don’t care where you were” he snapped. “But you will not hurt Rue! If you don’t

apologize now, you’ll be suspended until you admit your mistake!”
To him, Violet was nothing but a workaholic, and suspension seemed like a fitting.
punishment.
What Gabriel didn’t realize was Violet never loved the work; she pushed herself only so he could have an easier life.
Seeing the hopelessness in her eyes tightened his chest with guilt, but he turned away, taking Ruby with him,
Before leaving, he instructed the maid, “Don’t let her eat until she apologizes.”
Violet watched him go, tears silently tracing down her cheeks.
This was the man she’d loved for seven

more.
For days, Violet remained trapped inside the villa.
Three times a day, the maid asked if she’d acknowledged her mistake.
Violet said nothing, staring blankly out the window.
She was counting down the days–just five more before she’d be gone for good.
One afternoon, sitting on the balcony swing, her phone buzzed nonstop.
Every message was from Ruby.
On the day Violet planned to leave, one last text arrived.

“Bitch, you couldn’t win over our moms, and you’ll never win over a man. One word from me and Gab won’t come home for a whole
month.”
And she proved it.
Gabriel didn’t return for two full days.
But Ruby sent videos daily.
Clips of her kissing Gabriel on the beach.
Photos of him cooking dinner for her.
Intimate, explicit footage from every angle.
Before, Violet might have broken down.
Now, she felt nothing.

A man that shamelessly flirtatious was better off discarded.
By the fourth day, Violet still refused to “admit her mistakes, and the maid continued withholding food. She survived on water alone.
That evening, as usual, she walked into the garden.
Suddenly, a golden retriever came barreling out and crashed into her.
Normally, a dog wouldn’t have that much force–but she hadn’t eaten in days. Her body was fragile as paper.
She collapsed, pain tearing through her abdomen..
Blood rapidly stained her pants, and her face

drained of color.
She understood immediately.
Gabriel’s mother had been pressuring them to conceive. Two months earlier, during one of their infrequent intimate encounters, they had not used protection.
Now, a sharp pain in her abdomen brought her down to her knees. Clenching her teeth, she pleaded with the bodyguards for assistance.
The driver hurriedly helped her into the car, speeding off toward the hospital in a state of panic.
However, the route ahead was blocked.
“Ma’am,” the driver said with unease, “it’s Ma’am Ruby’s birthday today. Sir Gabriel had

the roads closed for her celebration. We… we can’t pass through.”
Her clothes drenched in blood, Violet watched as fireworks exploded in the night sky.
All for Ruby.
It was Gabriel’s love laid bare.
Overwhelmed, Violet shut her eyes, sinking into hopelessness.
With every ounce of strength left, she yanked the wedding ring from her finger and flung it out the window.
Her husband. Their marriage. She wanted nothing to do with either anymore.
