Kane’s usually controlled demeanor was completely gone. His movements were precise, calculated to cause maximum pain. “You think you can just waltz in here and take her? After what you did?”
Another punch landed, and Damon staggered backward.
“She deserves better than a pathetic excuse for an Alpha like you.”
Seeing Damon had been beaten until he vomited blood and collapsed on the ground, I stopped Kane.
“That’s enough. Killing him would only dirty your hands.”
Kane’s chest heaved with barely controlled rage, but he stepped back at my words.
Kane lowered his fists, looking at me with worry flashing in his eyes.
“Aria, I know you definitely don’t want to go with him.”
His voice was gentle again, so different from the violence of moments before.
“But now that you’ve remembered everything, if you want to leave, I’ll break our contract and arrange everything for you. I won’t force you to stay here.”
“I’ll handle things with the Alpha Council.”
The pain in his voice was carefully hidden, but I could hear it.
I smiled brightly, my heart full of certainty.
“Why don’t you ask whether I want to stay by your side?”
Kane’s eyes widened in surprise and hope.
From the ground, Damon made a strangled sound of protest.
“Aria, you can’t mean that. You remember us now. You remember how much we loved each other.”
I looked down at him with pity.
“I remember everything, Damon. That’s exactly why I’m choosing to stay.”
“The man who truly loves me is standing right here. And I’m not foolish enough to throw that away for someone who already threw me away once.”
Kane’s face lit up with joy, while Damon’s crumpled with despair.
“Now get out of my territory,” Kane said coldly to Damon. “And don’t come back.”
