Chapter 6
when Delilah found ou
that Nathan was married, she completely lost it.
She threw him out of her hospital room, sobbing and screaming that she was going to terminate the pregnancy.
Nathan dropped to his knees outside her door, begging–desperate.
“Delilah, please–you’re the one I love! I’ll divorce her, I swear! I’ll give you half of my shares, everything I own—just don’t push me away!”
Delilah poked her head out from the room, her expression still tear–streaked, but her tone suddenly teasing.
“I’ll let you in… but an apology isn’t enough.”
“You want forgiveness? Then bark like a dog. Otherwise, I’m not letting you back in.”
Nathan didn’t hesitate.
It was like her words were royal decree.
He dropped to one knee, right there in the hallway, and started barking.
“Woof!… Woof, woof!”
The absurd sound made the nurses and bystanders laugh out loud.
He was completely unfazed.
He went into her room and doted on her–adjusting her pillows, pouring her water, smoothing her
blanket.
Once he was sure she was stable, he took her back to the Sterling Estate.
The moment they stepped through the door, he turned to the house staff and announced loudly: “Everyone, listen up. This is your new lady of the house. Claire and I are getting divorced–so don’t you dare call the wrong name.”

The housekeepers exchanged wary glances and nodded quickly.
Then, as if something just occurred to him, Nathan frowned.
“Wait–where is Claire?”
Martha, the housekeeper, stepped forward nervously.

“Sir, yesterday… Mrs. Sterling…”
She paused when she saw his expression darken, and quickly corrected herself.
“I mean… Ms. Brown left the house and didn’t return. We don’t know where she went.”
Nathan scoffed.
“Of course. Probably playing hard to get again. She thinks I’ll go chasing after her just because she
throws a tantrum?
“Fine. Martha, get someone to move all her things out of the master bedroom. Everything that reminds me of her–throw it away. And that damn piano too.”
Martha hesitated, her face pale.
“But sir… that piano… she won her international title with that. She–she was so proud of it…”
Nathan’s voice exploded.
“Martha! Have I ever made it clear that she’s no long Mrs. Sterling? If you can’t follow orders, then you can pack your bags and leave too.”
Terrified, Martha bowed repeatedly and even slapped herself across the face.
“You’re right, sir. I was wrong–I’ll take care of it immediately.”
Nathan then led Delilah into what used to be our bedroom.
He tore our wedding photo off the wall and smashed it on the floor.
And there, in the bed we once shared, they made love–loud, wild, shameless.
That night, he had the kitchen prepare a full spread of Delilah’s favorite dishes.
But Claire never returned.
Nathan grew more and more irritable as the evening dragged on.
“She’s really not coming back? Fine. If she doesn’t show up, I’m burning all her stuff. Let her come back damn divorce papers.”

Just then, Martha appeared again, clutching a folder.
“Sir,” she said timidly, “This is… the divorce agreement. Ms. Brown prepared it a week ago. Her signature’s already on it. All that’s left is yours.”

Nathan froze.
He snatched the folder, flipping it open–and there it was. Her name, signed with perfect clarity.
His hands began to tremble.
And then something clicked.
The men he had ordered to “make her reflect” that night…had also disappeared without a trace.
A strong sense of unease gripped him.
He grabbed his phone, dialing her number again and again.
But the line was always off.
Panic finally set in.
He stormed toward the door, keys in hand.
Delilah caught his arm.
“Nathan! Where are you going? You promised you wouldn’t look for her again!”
“Delilah, be good. Stay here, okay?”
He pulled away from her grasp.
For the first time–he left her standing there alone.
And ran out the door, heart pounding, searching desperately for any trace of Claire.
