Chapter 19
Ethan looked at Olivia with eyes full of deep affection. From his pocket, he pulled out the engagement ring he never got the chance to give her in their past life.
This time, as he slipped it onto her finger, he was certain everything was different now.
No matter how it had happened, he was grateful the fate had given him another chance to make
things right.
Since Olivia was still recovering, Ethan didn’t want her working, and she herself didn’t feel ready to
face crowds. So instead, she stayed home and began sketching out short illustrated stories.
By chance, one of her stories went viral on X. From then on, she treated it like her full–time job and
gave up the idea of ever working outside again.
After she was discharged, Olivia had been living with Ethan.
The Sinclair family had come to visit her twice, but both times ended in unpleasant confrontations.
Eventually, Ethan just barred them from the house altogether.
They hired a housekeeper, and Olivia occasionally brought lunch to Ethan at the office. Those were the moments everyone in the company secretly looked forward to because whenever the boss saw
his fiancée, his temper magically vanished.
That day, after finishing the final chapter of her latest story, Olivia checked the time and realized
she could still make it to Ethan’s office with lunch.
He’d been working overtime nonstop lately. Most nights, by the time he came home, she was
already fast asleep. Half–asleep and dazed, she often stirred as Ethan gently pulled her into his
arms.
Every morning, she’d see his reminder messages to eat breakfast, proof he’d already left for the
office.
Come to think of it, it had been a while since they’d shared a proper meal together.
When she arrived at the building, Olivia took the private elevator straight to Ethan’s office.
“Mr. Carrington is currently in a meeting. I can let him know you’re here,” the assistant said.
“No need to trouble him–I’ll find him myself,” Olivia replied with a soft smile.

After placing the lunch on the office table, she walked slowly toward the guest lounge.
The air inside was heavy with tension.
Sebastian and Lillian, the two people she hadn’t seen in a long time, were seated inside.
“Olivia is my
sister. Who the hell are you to stop me from seeing her?” Sebastian snapped.
Ethan let out a cold chuckle. “Sister? From the way you and the rest of the Sinclair family treated
her, you sure didn’t act like she was.”
“I never restricted her. She’s the one who doesn’t want to see you.”
“That’s impossible!” Sebastian’s face twisted. “She’d never shut us out. We’re her family–she
loves us more than anyone!”
For the first time, Ethan realized just how shameless Sebastian could be.
“The last couple of times she saw you, all you did was force her to accept Lillian. Every visit ended
in a fight. She was miserable for days afterward. If you really cared about her as family, you
would’ve sent Lillian away and given Olivia the apology she deserves.”
Lillian’s eyes instantly welled with tears.
“Ethan… Did Olivia say something about me behind my back? You weren’t like this before. How could you say such things now? How could you tell my brother to send me away?”
But Ethan didn’t give her the satisfaction of sympathy.
“Olivia never once said a bad word about you. Not a single one,” he said firmly. “You’re the one who keeps trying to stir up drama and twist everything to make her look like the problem. What are you really trying to do?”
He held up his right hand, the one now wearing the engagement ring.
“I’ve already proposed to her. So from now on, don’t say anything that could cause her to
misunderstand.”
“Maybe I handled things badly before,” he continued, voice turning sharp, “but Olivia’s awake now, and I’m telling you this–keep your distance. In fact, you’d better pack up and get out of the Sinclair estate. And if I find out you’ve hurt her in any way… you’ll pay for it.”
The coldness in his tone stunned Lillian into silence. She didn’t dare move.

Just then, Olivia pushed open the door. Her eyes swept past Sebastian and Lillian, barely lingering, as if they were strangers.
“Did you bring me lunch?” Ethan’s voice immediately softened at the sight of her, the fierce edge from moments ago completely gone.
“Yeah. Your assistant said you were here–did I interrupt anything?”
Before Ethan could respond, Sebastian barked at her.
“Olivia! You see us and don’t even say hello?”
She paused, turned back to look at him, then asked calmly, “Why would I?”
“We’re your family,” he snapped. “Even if you marry Ethan, we’re the ones closest to you.”
Olivia didn’t respond. Instead, she reached down and lifted the hem of her skirt.
“This scar,” she said flatly, “was from the car accident. It nearly tore through my entire thigh.
Took hundreds of stitches to close.”
“There’s still blood clots in my brain that haven’t fully dissipated. And if you touch the back of my head, you’ll feel the scar there too.”
She named each injury one by one, and Ethan, standing beside her, looked utterly heartbroken.
“You’re using this to guilt–trip me?” Sebastian said, eyes narrowing.
At that, Olivia’s disappointment finally broke through.
“I really overestimated you,
Sebastian.”
“I’m not saying this to gain pity or to threaten you. I just want you–and the rest of the Sinclair
family to understand how utterly wrong you all were.”
“I’ve been out of the hospital for over two months. And in that time, you visited me twice–both
times just to push Lillian on me. Not once did you ask how I was healing. Not once did you show any concern for my injuries.”
“You’ve let me down too many times, Sebastian. And honestly? I’d rather not have a family like this
at all.”
Ethan couldn’t stand watching her suffer another second. He turned to security and ordered them
to remove Sebastian and Lillian from the premises.

Once they were gone, Olivia curled into Ethan’s arms.
“I’m so tired, Ethan,” she murmured.
He pressed a kiss to her forehead and cheek, his voice tender. “You don’t have to think about them anymore. From now on, I’m your family, the only one. I’ll never leave you. Never give up on you.”
“If you don’t want to see them again, why don’t we go on a trip?” he added softly.
Before the accident, Olivia had dreamed of traveling. But five years in bed had kept her from ever
fulfilling it.
Now that she had a second chance in this life, Ethan was determined to give her everything she had
missed.
