Olivia was eventually resuscitated

When she woke up, the hospital room was empty except for the steady beeping of the monitor

beside her bed

A nurse rushed in as soon as she stirred, urging her to rest a little longer

But Olivia ignored her. She stubbornly pulled out the IV needle from the back of her hand and

stumbled off the bed

Miss Sinclair, you can’t be discharged yet!The nurse tried to stop her in panic

Thank you, but I’m dying soon. I don’t want to die here,Olivia whispered. Her voice was faint, like a feather brushing against skin but firm, unyielding

Something in her vacant, lifeless gaze made the nurse instinctively step back

And just like that, Olivia dragged her bruised, battered body out of the hospital, one slow step at

time

When she finally pushed open the door to the house, Ethan and Sebastian were lounging on the

living room sofa. Neither of them even looked up at the sound

Well, did you finally decide to come back?Ethan scoffed. Done faking it now?”

Sebastian flipped through a stack of papers, his tone dripping with sarcasm. So you even had the nerve to lie about being in emergency care just to get us to let you go?”

Even if you died for real,Ethan finally glanced at her, his gaze like ice. we wouldn’t feel a shred

of sorrow.”

Olivia stood at the doorway, sunlight pouring in from behind her, casting a slender shadow on the

floor

She didn’t argue. She didn’t cry. She just looked at them quietly and calmly and turned back toward

her room

For the next few days, Olivia barely left her room. It was as if she had become a ghost drifting through the house, silent, invisible

Strangely, Ethan and Sebastian didn’t bother her. They even thought she was finally starting to

behave.”

Until her birthday

Ethan knocked on her door with a garment bag in hand. It’s your birthday today. We’ve prepared

little surprise for you.”

Sebastian stood behind him, wearing an uncharacteristically gentle smile. Get dressed. We’re taking you somewhere.”

Olivia stared at their faces which were so polished, so fake and almost laughed

She already knew what this socalled surprise was

They were planning to reveal that their parents and Lillian had never died. That it had all been

staged performance

And then they’d throw her a bone and say everything would go back to how it used to be, as long as

she stopped going after Lillian

But nothing could go back, not anymore

I just need a minute to get ready, she said softly. You two go ahead.”

Sebastian frowned for a second, but eventually nodded. Hurry up. Don’t keep us waiting.”

Once they were gone, Olivia changed into the dress they’d pickeda white gown, elegant and pristine, almost like a wedding dress

But she didn’t go to the hotel

She walked alone to Highmoor Bridge

The night wind lifted the hem of her dress as the water roared beneath her feet

She stood at the edge, staring at the glittering lights across the river, and her mind drifted back to

time long ago

Her father hoisting her on his shoulders to watch the fireworks…

Her mother gently brushing out her hair…

Sebastian scouring the entire street just to find her favorite sweets after she said, I want candy”

Ethan blushing under the same starry sky, promising, Olivia, I’ll always be good to you.‘

All those memories now felt like fragments from a dream, distant, unreachable

Her phone suddenly buzzed

It was Ethan. Olivia, where are you? We’re still waiting to surprise you.”

Olivia looked out at the dark, endless water and murmured, You’ve prepared a surprise for me

I’ve got one for you too.”

Save it,Sebastian’s voice suddenly cut in as he snatched the phone from Ethan. Olivia, just get over here. We have something important to tell you.”

I can’t make it.”

What?”

She stared into the river. Come to Highmoor Bridge. The surprise I prepared for you is right here.”

After saying that, she ended the call and gently placed two things on the railing: her cancer

diagnosis and the necklace that had recorded something that would reveal Lillian’s true colors

The wind tugged at her long hair, but her heart was strangely calm

She cast one last glance at the shimmering city and then climbed over the railing without

hesitation

She didn’t leave a single word behind

Splash!”

The freezing river swallowed her whole

It was bitterly cold. But to Olivia, it felt like freedom

From this moment on, nothing in the world could hurt her anymore
