Chapter 5
Just as Olivia opened her mouth to speak, Vivian suddenly caught up from behind, putting on an
innocent face.
“Are you sure you heard her right?” she said sweetly. “I’m pretty sure what she said was—she’s
going to smash up Mr. and Mrs. Carrington’s and Lillian’s graves.”
Her soft voice landed like a blade, cutting straight into Olivia’s heart.
She stood there, numb, not even bothering to defend herself.
What was the point? No matter what she said, they’d never believe her.
Sure enough, Ethan’s face turned stormy in an instant.
T
“Olivia! We came to get you because the rain was coming and you hadn’t come down yet—and this
is what you were planning, something so reckless? Have you really learned nothing from the last
time?”
Sebastian’s temper snapped. He grabbed her collar and snarled,
“You already killed Mom, Dad, and Lillian–now you want to destroy their graves too?”
Olivia almost laughed.
Who had she actually killed?
”
They were all alive and thriving. The only one dying was her.
But before she could say a word, Sebastian had already yanked her out of the cemetery office.
“If you still haven’t learned your lesson, then I’ll make sure you remember what it means to hurt
them.”
Then came the brutal kick to her back.
“Agh!”
Olivia tumbled down the sharp stone steps, her skin splitting open as she hit every jagged edge. The sound of her bones crashing against the rock sent a sickening shiver through her.
She landed like a discarded rag doll at the bottom, drenched in blood, and passed out from the pain.

She didn’t know how much time had passed when she woke up, soaked in icy rain.
She lay in a pool of her own blood, the cemetery around her deserted and silent.
It was as if the staff of the entire cemetery had been ordered to stay away. No one dared to come
near her.
Her ribs felt broken. Her right leg wouldn’t move. The gash on her forehead was still bleeding, rain mixing with blood, forming tiny red streams on the ground.
Gritting her teeth, Olivia began crawling toward the nearest railing. Her fingernails dug into the mud, leaving long, bloody trails behind her.
Every movement felt like needles stabbing through her flesh.
Finally, she grabbed the railing and pulled herself up on trembling legs.
One step. Then another.
Blood dripped down her pants, blooming like crimson flowers in the rain.
By the time she limped into the hospital to get her wounds treated and made her way back to the
Sinclair estate, it was already deep into the night.
The lights in the living room were still on.
Ethan and Sebastian sat on the sofa, watching her coldly as she staggered inside.
“Have you learned your lesson?” Sebastian asked, his tone icy.
Olivia nodded numbly. “Yeah.”
“Are you going to do it again?”
She shook her head.
Only then did they finally stand up, satisfied, and leave the room.
For the next few days, Olivia locked herself in her room. She didn’t set foot outside.
Until the day of Vivian’s birthday party.
She was dragged there against her will.
The party was held on a luxurious yacht. Crystal chandeliers scattered dazzling light everywhere. A

tower of champagne sparkled in the center of the ballroom.
Olivia stood in the shadows, quietly watching Vivian glowing at the center of the stage.
Ethan was down on one knee, slipping a pair of diamond–encrusted heels onto her feet.
Sebastian stood beside them, fastening a priceless ruby necklace around her neck.
Guests raised their glasses and surrounded her with laughter and praise.
For a moment, Olivia was pulled back into a memory.
She used to celebrate every birthday on this very yacht.
Back then, Ethan would cancel all his work to decorate the ballroom himself.
Sebastian would drive halfway across the city in the middle of the night just because she said, “I
want the cake from the shop in Elderbrook.”
Their parents would proudly introduce her to everyone,
“This is our most beloved daughter.”
Now, she was like a ghost in the room, unseen, forgotten. Even the waiters deliberately skipped
past her when offering champagne.
“And now, let’s light the birthday fireworks for Miss Locke!”
The host’s voice yanked her back to the present.
Guests cheered and swarmed the deck. Olivia was pushed along by the crowd and had no choice but
to follow.
The sea breeze brushed against her cheeks, salty and damp.
“Boom-!”
The first firework burst in the sky, lighting up the ocean.
But just then, the clear night sky was swallowed by sudden clouds.
“What’s going on?”
“The weather app didn’t say anything about a storm!”

Before anyone could react, a violent wind rose, followed by a torrential downpour!
“Aaah!”
A massive wave slammed against the yacht, rocking it violently.
Olivia’s footing slipped, and she was thrown toward the edge.
At the same time, she saw Vivian being tossed overboard too.
“Splash!”
“Splash!”
They both hit the water almost simultaneously.
Icy seawater surged into Olivia’s nose and mouth. She thrashed desperately, trying to stay afloat.
“Help…”
Her cries were swallowed by the crashing waves.
Through her blurred vision, she saw Ethan and Sebastian dive into the ocean without hesitation.
They were swimming hard toward Vivian, but not one of them looked back at her.
