Chapter 7 Humiliation
Felton’s face darkened as he stared at Anastasia.
She had never shown him this kind of affection in the past three years.
His sharp eyes stayed on her, something unreadable flickering in them.
Beside him, Raquel was sobbing, with her hand over her swollen cheek. People around started to feel sorry for her.
She had expected Felton to defend her, to lash out at Anastasia. But he said nothing. She looked up and saw his attention still on Anastasia.
Anger rose in Raquel’s chest. She bit her lip, her voice shaking. “Felty, it hurts… My mouth is bleeding.”
Only then did others notice the red mark on her cheek and blood on her lips.
Felton’s face went hard. He pulled Raquel into his arms, then looked back at Anastasia.
“Anastasia, apologize to Raquel. If you do, we’ll let this go.”
Raquel was upset as she wanted her to suffer more, but she couldn’t say that out loud. “I’ll make the bitch pay for this big time,” she thought bitterly.
Anastasia just scoffed, “Apologize? Sure. Get on your knees and beg first.”
She looked completely unapologetic.
People around gasped, giving Anastasia pitying looks. She had picked the wrong fight—Felton held real power in the city.
They thought she had picked the wrong fight as Felton had real power in the city.
Hobert frowned and stepped forward, casually putting himself between her and the others. “My girl doesn’t waste her time arguing with clowns. If something happened, it was because someone was dumb enough to start it.
“And this hotel has security cameras, so we’ll find out soon enough,” he said coldly.
Raquel tensed up.
If they checked the footage, Felton would find out the truth.
She couldn’t let that happen.
But before she could protest, Arnoldo walked in with a laptop.
Raquel went pale right away. She grabbed Felton’s sleeve, her voice small and shaky. “Felty, I’m feeling dizzy. Let’s just head home, okay?”
“What’s wrong, Ms. Fletcher? Feeling guilty?” Anastasia teased.
Felton ignored her and gently patted Raquel’s back. “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure you get justice.”
He started walking toward the laptop, but Anastasia beat him to it.
She grabbed it and hooked it up to the hotel’s projector.
When the footage played, Raquel’s sharp voice filled the room.
She froze, her face draining of color.
Her eyes widened in shock as she saw herself on the big screen—throwing the card at Anastasia and getting humiliated in return.
Felton’s face darkened, a warning of what was coming.
Raquel glanced at him, and panic surged through her. She tried to say something, but Felton gave her a long, unreadable look and then walked away.
She gathered up the skirt of her dress and rushed after him.
“Felty, wait! It’s not what you think!”
But she tripped on the hem and fell face-first.
People around burst out laughing.
Raquel felt mortified. Seeing Felton outside the entrance, she scrambled up and limped after him.
