Chapter 1 Divorce
“Let’s just end this. I never loved you.”
Felton Gutierrez set the divorce papers on the table, his expression cold.
Anastasia Carney sat on the couch across from him. Her heart sank as she looked at the papers.
Seeing she wasn’t moving, Felton stood up and looked down at her.
“Anastasia, are you deaf or what?” he snapped.
That was how he talked to her all along, always sharp and cutting.
She suppressed the bitterness in her heart and picked up the pen from the table. Without hesitation, she signed her name.
Felton sneered.
Anastasia handed him the papers, but just as his fingers touched them, she yanked them back and ripped them in half.
“What the hell are you doing?” His lips pressed into a thin line, eyes blazing with fury.
“You never loved me. So why did you marry me?” Anastasia looked right at him, the man she had loved with all her heart for three years.
“Just needed a tool,” he replied with a sneer.
His voice was ice cold, and the words cut deep, pulling Anastasia into the depths of despair.
She let out a dry laugh, and the sadness in her eyes faded. Then she teased, “You’re rushing this divorce because Raquel Fletcher is back, right?”
Raquel was his unforgettable love, the girl who once saved his life.
Years ago, when Felton had just taken over the Gutierrez Group, his enemies set him up. The car accident left him paralyzed from the waist down.
The second Raquel heard about it, she called off their engagement and fled abroad. Just like that, she cut him off completely and disappeared without a trace.
Paralyzed and abandoned, Felton was devastated. His grandmother couldn’t watch him fall apart, so she found Anastasia, hoping her presence could heal Felton.
When Anastasia mentioned Raquel, Felton finally lost his cool.
“Shut up! You don’t get to say her name!
“If you hadn’t schemed against her, she never would have left. We would have been married by now.”
His eyes blazed with rage as he yelled.
“You seriously think I made her leave you?” Anastasia scoffed.
“Who else could it be?”
After a dry laugh, Anastasia walked into the bedroom. When she came back, she had a suitcase and a small gift box with her.
She opened the box. Inside was a sleek black wristwatch.
Felton recognized it immediately—an Opuluxe limited edition, designed by Myrtle, the only one in the world.
He had tried to order it once but failed. How the hell did she get it?
Before he could ask about it, Anastasia held it up and let it drop. The watch shattered against the floor with a sharp clink.
“This was supposed to be your anniversary gift. But you don’t deserve it anymore!” Anastasia snarled.
Felton’s face darkened.
Anastasia ignored him. She turned, opened a drawer, and pulled out another copy of the divorce papers.
The bold red letters on the cover stood out.
“Look, I’m divorcing you. Not the other way around! Goodbye for good, Felton!”
