Chapter 20 Kneel and Repent
Chapter 20 Kneel and Repent
Tears rolled down Ethan’s checks. “Thank you, Father”
He spent the entire day in that church,
The priest handed him the bracelet. “Praise God, my child.”
Since that day, Ethan had worn that bracelet on his wrist without ever taking it off.
Not long after, he secured a round of investment, and the company began to stabilize, shifting from loss to profit.
More investments followed, and the company expanded step by step.
He’d always believed that bracelet had protected him.
Now, he was so used to the feeling of it on his wrist that not wearing
ing it felt wrong
He even thought that Stella’s return from the dead might have had something to do with the bracelet’s
‘s power
“I was wrong.” Ethan looked at Stella, panicked by her silence. He didn’t even care about the bracelet anymore. “If you’re mad, you can hit me, kick me–whatever you want. Just don’t ignore mel”
Stella still didn’t respond. She spun the chair around lazily and lifted her chin toward Tina. “Tina, I nominate you as our company’s new CEO. Do you think you’re up for the job?”
Ethan’s expression darkened, his eyes shifting straight to Tina.
Tina was no fool Even if she could tell Stella was joking, she chose her words carefully.
“I am!” Tina answered confidently.
Tina’s heart was racing.
Be confident!
That’s what Stella had told her today.
And while she knew Stella was only joking, she couldn’t deny it–she did have ambition.
Stella grinned. “Perfect. From now on, certain people can just kick back, collect dividends, and travel the world. Go wherever they want!”
He raised four fingers like a schoolboy, “I swear I’ll work hard. I love working. Please don’t cut me out!”
Po-
Tina burst out laughing.
She was a professional. She normally never laughed at work
But hearing her always–serious, cutthroat boss say something that childish–it was hilarious
He sounded like a little kid in grade school.
Stella, on the other hand, didn’t laugh. She shot Ethan a cool glance.
Suddenly. Ethan dropped to his knees. “Forgive me!”
This time Stella couldn’t hold it in. She let out a big, toothy laugh.
That was an old game from when they were kids–she’d throw a sheet over herself and pretend to be the emperor, and the

three boys would kneel and bow to her.
Tina was laughing so hard her shoulders were shaking like she had Parkin
Seeing Stella laugh, Ethan finally relaxed, his face softening.
Stella couldn’t be bothered to stay mad at him. Bad for her health anyway. She waved a hand generously. “Rise”
Ethan stood and immediately offered her the tea again. “Have some tea. This one smells really good.”
Stella took the cup with regal pride and took a sip. It really was good tea.
Ethan turned to Tina. “Tina, come with me.”
Tina instantly wiped the grin off her face, suddenly tense.
At the office door.
She stood stiffly, face serious
Ethan looked down at her. “What are you so nervous about? Weren’t you ready to be CEO just now?”
Tina pressed her lips together and lowered her head, “L…”

Ethan’s tone was calm. “Tm not blaming you. Honestly, I don’t even like people without ambition. I’m actually considering. transferring you to one of our branches as the new CEO.”
Tina’s eyes lit up. “Really? Mr. Ethan?”
Ethan trusted his sister’s judgment. “When have I ever lied to you? But first, I need you to handle two things for me.”
Tina smiled. “What things?”
Ethan said, “First, go get that bracelet off the desk for me. Second, help me pick out a few nice pieces of gold jewelry for my sister. A couple pretty diamond ones too.
No way was he going to admit he was too scared to go get the bracelet himself.
Back inside the office. Ethan said, “Some of the senior execs are still in the conference room. I need to check in.”
Tina walked over to the desk and picked up the bracelet. “Stella, I’m taking the bracelet.”
Stella nodded. “It’s gota nice weight to it. Where’s it from?”
Tina answered, “it wasn’t bought. Mr. Ethan got it from a church.”
Stella didn’t think much of it. “Oh. You guys go ahead. Don’t worry about me.”
Now she was alone in the office.
She adjusted the height of the executive chair, getting into a comfy position to watch a movie.
But just then, the door flew open,
A furious voice cut through the air.
