Chapter 18 The Queen Walks In
He wasn’t blind. He knew some of the higher–ups had been thinking about jumping ship recently. He just hadn’t had time to deal with it.
And now Stella had stepped in–for him.
His nose stung. He wanted to punch himself in the face.
What was the point of running off to see Hannah after her accident!
He wasn’t a doctor.
He turned off his phone. Right then and there, he was back on duty.
Once the applause died down, Stella added, “Oh, and just to be clear, that two million is coming out of your CEO’s account. I’m broke these days–my upstairs neighbor even filed a complaint about the clanging noises downstairs.”
The room burst into laughter again.
Deliver the serious stuff first, then crack a joke to break the ice. Everyone in the room looked at Stella like she was glowing.
Where on earth could you find a sister this stunning and hilarious?
Stella’s eyes crinkled with amusement. “You all keep going with your meeting. I won’t interrupt anymore.”
With that, she stepped down from the head of the table and headed to the back to take a seat.
Ethan stayed standing and finished running the meeting. Every single manager gave their updates with laser focus.
Everyone was hoping to catch another glance from Stella
Jokes aside–when the CEO’s sister throws money like that, who wouldn’t be impressed?
The senior execs were still in shock. They kept glancing at one another, unsure what to think.
This girl was Ethan’s sister?
They all remembered Ethan had only one sister–hadn’t she died in a car crash years ago?
But this girl. she looked a much like her!
And the way she carried herself today, it was just like that fourteen–year–old girl from all those years ago!
Even the name was the same!
What the hell was going on!
Were they dreaming?
One of the old execs pinched the guy next to him on the thigh.
The guy yelped, then kicked him in retaliation.
Okay. Now they were both sure it wasn’t a dream.
The sun was beating down. Hannah pulled her hat lower, not wanting to get tanned.
A sunburn would be such a hassle.
She checked the time on her phone. It had been half an hour since she’d sent B
Ethan the location
He still hadn’t shown up.
