Only now did Cameron finally realize, ever since Julia left, Anne had slowly begun showing her true colors. The constant drinking, the reckless behavior.
At first, he dismissed it and chose to look the other way.
But never did he imagine this woman would harm his child.
And now, she dared to slander his wife?
Anne let out a crazed laugh, “What? Did I say something wrong? Didn’t you always let your daughter call her that? Fat is contagious! Just look at Reese! Hahaha…
Cameron’s body stiffened. His grip on her hair slowly loosened.
She wasn’t wrong.
He had indulged Reese in mocking her mother.
But hearing that word, fat, come from another woman’s mouth cut deeper than he expected. It hit like a slap across the face. With a cold, dead stare, Cameron stood up and looked down at Anne.
“Crazy woman.“8
He turned to the butler.
“Since she loves alcohol so much, lock her up. Don’t let her drink anything but liquor, day and night.”
He paused, glanced coldly at the unconscious woman sprawled on the floor, then added, “If she refuses to drink, get a few bodyguards to force it down her.”
The butler quickly nodded, not daring to question a word.
Cameron stayed at the hospital for an entire week.
He barely closed his eyes.
Every night, Reese burned with a high fever, her sleep broken by incoherent murmurs and whimpers.
It wasn’t until today that she finally began to wake.
Reese blinked open her eyes, dazed and weak. “Daddy, where am 17′′
Cameron gently held her small hand, his voice soft. “Reese, we’re at the hospital.“2
Tears welled up in her eyes. “Daddy, my whole body harts…
“Miss Lawrence made me drink something sweet. I didn’t want to, but she got mad… It burned my throat. After that, I don’t remember anything…”
Cameron swallowed back the fury clawing at his chest and patiently soothed her, brushing her hair back as she cried.
Once her tears finally quieted, he asked the question that had haunted him for months.
“Reese.. why did you give Mommy that drug back then?”
“Who told you to do it?
Reese hesitated. Her little body stiffened.”
She slowly buried her face under the blanket, silent.
Cameron patiently looked at his daughter. “This is very important. You mustn’t lie to me.”
Reese began to cry again. “It was in the movies Miss Lawrence showed me. All the aunties did that in them.”
Her voice grew fainter and fainter. “Miss Lawrence said those aunties were right… that cheap women deserve to be poisoned. She also said mistresses are just the ones nobody loves. If you want something, just drug the people you hate..“!!
Cameron’s fists clenched as he fought to contain the fire building in his chest. He never imagined Anne had been feeding his daughter such poison.
No wonder Reese kept doing those dirty little tricks; ever since Anne became her plano teacher, she had slowly twisted her. Everything had been Anne’s manipulation, her provocation from the shadows.&
Cameron lowered his voice. “Reese, do you really hate Mommy?”
Reese blinked. “I don’t want to become an ugly fatty like Mommy. Miss Lawrence said fat is contagious. Whatever your mom looks like, that’s what you’ll grow up to be.“B
Cameron’s expression darkened.
“Reese, fat isn’t ugly. And Mommy isn’t ugly.”
He unlocked his phone and began scrolling through photos of Julia, one after another, unable to look away. A soft daze settled in his eyes.

Cameron’s expression darkened.
“Reese, fat isn’t ugly. And Mommy isn’t ugly.”
He unlocked his phone and began scrolling through photos of Julia, one after another, unable to look away. A soft daze settled in his eyes.
She had always been the noble white swan on stage, a fairy untouched by dust, stunning beyond words.
She was the woman who had haunted his dreams night after night, who bore his child, and fell ill because of it.

He held the phone in front of his daughter. “This was what Mommy looked like, so beautiful, so dazzling.” “Mommy only gained weight because she had you. If it weren’t for that, she would still look like this.”
He paused for a moment. “Fat doesn’t spread, but malice does. In this world, only Mommy and Daddy will ever truly love you. No one else will.“%
Reese’s eyes welled up with tears. “Daddy, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have hurt Mommy. I miss her. Why hasn’t she come to see me?“%
Cameron didn’t respond. Even he wasn’t sure anymore.
