Chapter 98
As the anesthesia wore off, Julia slowly opened her eyes in a daze. The first person she saw was Drew, dressed in a white lab coat, holding her medical records and reading them with sharp focus.
Sensing she was awake, he closed the file and met her gaze with calm, penetrating eyes.X
“Miss Julia Gosling, hello. I’m your new attending physician. My surname is Timberlake.”
The man standing before her was tall and carried an intense presence–one that didn’t quite fit the image of an ordinary doctor.

But she quickly pushed the thought aside. Maybe she was just being paranoid again.
She nodded slightly in greeting. “Hello, Dr. Timberlake. May I ask how’s my leg?”
Drew glanced at her leg, then shook his head. “The situation isn’t optimistic. It’ll be tough for you to stand again. But… if you’re willing to undergo surgery and full rehabilitation, there’s still hope. Just know, it’ll be excruciating.”
Hearing that there was still hope, Julia felt as if she had clutched a lifeline. “I can do it! I’ll go through the surgery and rehab, I’m not afraid of pain.”
Drew remained silent for a moment before saying calmly, “Miss Gosling, it’s not convenient for you to recover alone. recommend hiring a caregiver.”
Julia found the suggestion reasonable.!
She looked at the man standing before her and a bold idea crossed her mind
He was her attending physician; if he also acted as her caregiver, her recovery would surely go more smoothly.
But would he even agree?!!
She hesitated, unsure if she should speak up.
⚫ Still, doctors didn’t usually earn the kind of money she once did. If she offered a generous price, perhaps he’d say yes.
“Dr. Timberlake…could you be my caregiver?”
Julia looked up at Drew, eyes filled with hope. “I can pay you 100,000 dollars per day.””
Drew blinked, clearly surprised. He hadn’t expected such a request.
To be her caregiver? One hundred thousand dollars a day?
He earned more than that in passive income per second.
But then, a faint smile tugged at the corners of his lips. “Alright, Miss Gosling”
In the months that followed, Drew became Julia’s caregiver, tending to her day in and day out.
Aside from the rare remote meetings he couldn’t miss, and the occasional boardroom appearance that kept him away for a few days, he spent nearly all his time by her side.
To him, Julia was unbelievably resilient. She withstood the repeated agony of bone regrowth, pain that would’ve broken an ordinary person long ago.X
At first, he hired ten professional caregivers to assist him. But as time passed and he grew familiar with every detail of her care, he dismissed them all.
He even went as far as hiring professors to teach him professional–level nursing.
Under his meticulous care, Julia’s leg was nearly healed.
She once told him that once she recovered, she planned to leave for Germany.
And today was his last day as her caregiver.
When Charlie heard the news, he was so stunned he flew straight to the U.S. Just to see it with his own eyes.
“Haha, the great President Timberlake working as a caregiver in his hospital? If I snap a photo, it’ll hit international headlines.” Drew took off his caregiver uniform, ready to shower, Seeing Charlie, who had flown across the globe just to witness his so–called ‘performance; he frowned.
“You must be awfully idle if you’re not stuck in Africa handling business.”
Charlie immediately dropped the laughter and waved both hands. “No, no, I just came out of concern. Thought you might be swamped. I’m here to help.”
At the mention of Julia, Drew paused for a beat before speaking in a low tone, “I don’t need help.”
Charlie quieted down, then asked with genuine curiosity. “Drew, you’ve already looked into her. Her husband tossed her down the stairs over another woman. Just another sad betrayal story. Nothing special in her past. Why are you still so interested?” Drew didn’t respond right away. His thoughts wandered back to every moment he had spent with Julia these past few months

Even he couldn’t explain it.
“I already see her as a friend. I just want to see her recover.”
That was all he said.

Charlie looked unconvinced. “That’s it? Just a friend? And yet you’re still planning to acquire her entire family’s business? I mean, she’s leaving tomorrow. What then? You’ll just smile and wave goodbye like none of it mattered?”
Drew found him exhausting. “You ask too many questions.”
Without another word, he turned and walked into the bathroom.
That evening, Julia was quietly packing her things when Drew appeared, leaning against the doorway.
She turned and gave him a soft smile. “Dr. Timberlake, I’ve fully recovered. Thank you for everything. I’ll be leaving tomorrow.“!!
Drew watched her, his gaze unreadable. “Miss Gosling, can I ask why Germany?”
