days from
now. Bring your ID. Someone will come for you.”
I walked home in a daze, only to hear a bunch of drunken trust fund brats laughing loudly in the
living
“Yo, Damien–Vivian’s the half–sister of your wife, right? I thought you couldn’t stand her. Why’s she suddenly the bride tonight?”
Damien swirled his wine slowly, then chuckled. “Couldn’t be helped. The mother of my child needs to come from a better lineage.”
The crowd whooped, but someone asked cautiously, “What about your wife, man?”
Damien smirked wickedly. “Jasmine? She’s obedient. I’ve slept with women right in front of her-
she even hands me the condoms. It’s just a wedding. I’ll throw one for her later.”
The whole room erupted in crude laughter.
“Damn, you’re not worried she’ll actually get mad and walk out on you? Without Vivian, she’s still the Monroe family heiress!”
Damien looked unconcerned. “She won’t. Even if I kicked her out, she’d crawl back, crying, begging me not to abandon her.”
“After all, her sickly mom still relies on me to stay alive.”
I staggered back, heart pounding.
Didn’t even realize someone was behind me.
“Hey, you’re back, sis.”
I turned around and saw Vivian’s smiling face. My eyes went cold.
“I don’t have a sister.”
I turned sharply toward the side door, but then-
“Ah!”
Vivian suddenly screamed.
Chapter 2
All the chatter in the room stopped dead.
Damien walked over with his hands in his pockets, saw her lying on the floor, and gave me a long, knowing look.
“Did you push her?”
Vivian quickly shook her head. “No! It wasn’t her. I slipped, that’s all.”
Then she clutched her belly, whimpering. “Damien… my belly hurts. Is the baby okay?”
“Tsk.” Damien clicked his tongue and bent down to scoop her into his arms.
Before walking off, he turned to me with a cold voice. “Come.”
He carried Vivian into the villa and sat down, cradling her on his lap like she was made of glass.
The trust fund boys exchanged glances and backed out of the room quietly.
I followed in silence.
One guy brushed past me, whistling like he was watching a show.
In the past, no matter how much of a womanizer Damien was, no one dared to act up in front of me.
TH
But now? They saw the shift.
They saw that Vivian was different.
And I? I’d become just another disposable plaything–mocked, touched, degraded.
By the time I realized that, my numb heart ached like it was breaking all over again.
Damien didn’t ask anything else. He just looked at me with indifference.
“Apologize.”
I bit down hard on my lip, tasting blood.
“I didn’t push her.‘
A mocking smile played at Damien’s lips. “Go get her cat,” he told the butler.
My eyes widened in alarm. “What are you doing?”
Chapter 2
Damien’s smile turned cruel.
“Vivian isn’t like those women outside. She’s my business partner. The legitimate daughter of the Monroe Group. And she’s carrying my child.“.
“I won’t let anyone hurt the mother of my child–including you.”
“So, you’ll need to pay the price. Learn your place.”
