Chapter 136 Dangerous Situation (2)
1 fight frantically against his unyielding grip, driven entirely by my instinct to survive and my fiercely protective wolf side.
My unborn pup! I must keep my baby safe!
Yet the sheer size difference between the enormous rogue and my pregnant body leaves me no choice but to stumble helplessly as he pulls me closer and closer to the roaring cement mixer.
The gaping opening of the machine stretches wide, resembling the mouth of some ravenous steel beast, eager to
consume me.
Right as we near the lethal machinery, Alarion manages to break loose from his restraints. He charges forward, colliding with the rogue in a burst of energy.
Their bodies crash together, and the shocked criminal is knocked straight into the spinning drum of the cement mixer.
Terrifying screams ring out across the warehouse as the man’s arm is sucked in and shredded before his companion can rescue him.
The injured man collapses onto the ground, clutching his ruined arm, as a pool of blood spreads beneath him.
Keeping his distance, Alarion instantly places himself protectively in front of me, his Alpha instincts blazing to life..
“Aelira, get out of here! Go now, don’t look back!” he yells over the roar of the machinery.
With the remaining rogue storming toward us, his scarred face contorted with fury over his partner’s fate, I’m left with no alternative.
I spin around and dash for the warehouse exit, moving as quickly as I can despite my bound legs. My heart thunders in my chest, threatening to explode.
I’m almost at the open doorway–so close to escaping this horror–when Cyrinne unexpectedly appears and catches up to
me
She wraps her fingers in my hair and jerks me back with brutal strength.
“Think you can run, you little bitch?” she spits.
A bolt of pain shoots through me, and I cry out as I lose my balance, crashing backward since my hands are tied behind
- me.
! try desperately to use my bound wrists to soften my fall before I hit the concrete.
Still, a sharp, searing pain tears through my lower stomach, right where my beloved pup is growing inside me.
“My baby!” I gasp in horror.
Towering over me like a vengeful spirit, Cyrinne brandishes a silver dagger, her once–beautiful face now twisted with hatred.
“Aelira Sunmere, die and rot in hell!‘ she screams.
A wave of hopelessness chills me to the core as I silently plead, “Baby, I failed you. I’m so sorry.”
I squeeze my eyes shut, bracing for the blade to plunge into my chest.
Yet the agonizing cold of metal never comes.
Gingerly, I open my eyes to see that Alarion has somehow arrived again, placing himself directly between me and the lethal
attack.
He has hurled himself in front of the descending dagger, shielding me with his own body.
Cyrinne appears completely stunned that Alarion has managed to escape the last rogue and reach us just in time.
In a sudden motion, she drops the silver dagger, her face frozen in terror as though she is unable to process what has just occurred.

The dagger makes a harsh sound as it hits the concrete floor between us.
With a deep groan, Alarion collapses beside me, hitting his side hard against the ground.
The blade that had been meant for my chest is now embedded in his back, the silver hilt sticking out from between his
shoulders.
Blood rapidly seeps through his pristine white shirt, forming a vivid red stain that quickly spreads.
“Alarion!” I shout, overwhelmed by shock and fear.
Powerless and still tied up, I can only watch as blood pours steadily from the gaping wound in his back.
Alarion’s complexion is ghostly pale, yet he somehow manages to turn his face toward me. He gives a pained, bitter smile, his lips drained of all color from the blood loss.
“Aelira, please forgive me for everything.” he whispers, forcing the words out. “I probably won’t get another chance to say
this.”
His voice becomes fainter with every word.
Cyrinne, snapping out of her shock, erupts in furious anger. Her emerald eyes burn with rage at her ruined revenge.
“You stupid, lovesick fool!” she shrieks at Alarion’s motionless body.
She
spins
toward the injured rogue, who remains conscious.
“Toss them both into the mixer! I want them dead! Grind them until there’s nothing left!”
