Chapter 56
They all became quiet at the sound of their father’s voice. Seeing
how quiet they had all become because he stepped in, his eyes
scanned their faces, moving from Blue, to his wife and then, to
his son, Beck.
“I’m sure you all didn’t become deaf and dumb all of a sudden.”
He said with a stern look on his face. “What’s with the sudden
silence?” He asked, his eyes not leaving Beck.
“It’s nothing, dad.” Beck lied, but his mother was determined not
to cover the matter up.
“Liar!” She suddenly shouted, facing Beck.
“Okay, now I need to know what is going on. What is all this?”
Beck’s dad asked, with a puzzled look on his face.
“Is no one ready to speak now?” He asked, raising his voice.
Before his wife could give him an answer, Blue spoke up.
“Well, it’s obviously that girl, dad! I don’t even know what he
sees in such a crappy person.” Blue answered him.
“Blue!” Beck yelled her name, trying to shut her up but she was
Chapter 56
not ready to back down.
“What is it?” She snapped, rolling her eyes at him. “Can’t I talk to
dad anymore?” She hissed and Beck clenched his fist and his
anger began to build up.
Noticing his anger, his father called him, “Beck! Keep your
mouth shut and let her talk.” He ordered, making Beck keep
mute.
“Blue, tell me, what girl is that? I hope it’s not who I think it is.”
He said, trying to figure it all out.
“It definitely has to be who you think it is. It’s that girl.” She
quickly answered.
“Yes, that problematic girl. What’s her name again?” His mother
asked blue, who was so quick to answer.
ΠΑ
“It’s Veronica. Or something around that line. Even the name is
so ugly! Bleh.” She said with so much disgust.
“What!” Beck’s father exclaimed, shock written all over his face.
“That girl again? Tell me, what pact do you have with that girl?
Is there something else about this that we do not know of?” He
asked him, sincerely.
“It beats me.” His mother chipped in. “He really needs to tell us if
there is anything we need to know.” She added, with a cold
Chapter 56
expression.
“Imagine my shock when I saw how he was sulking,” She said
again, facing her husband, “thinking that he was being
overwhelmed with the pack’s responsibilities.” She continued.
“Only for me to find out that he was sulking all because of that
cursed girl.” She spat with irritation.
“The girl who has brought us trouble throughout her stay in this
pack. To the extent that there is always one trouble after
another wherever her name is called. Just look at it, at the
mention of her name, we are having issues already.” She
lamented to her husband, whose glare at Beck, kept getting
intense.
“So, you still haven’t forgotten about that girl?” His father asked. “Despite all she brought upon this pack, despite all she has caused us. How dare you bring up her matter in this house? How dare you?!” He stated with displeasure.
“But she didn’t do anything. In my opinion, I would say it was just a coincidence.” Beck said, defending Veronica.
“And who asked for your opinion? Huh? You think your opinion matters in this matrer? You must be very silly!” His father said sharply and Beck kept quiet, not wanting to provoke
his father with his words, further.
Chapter 56
“Just imagine, he is still defending her.” His mother said,
displeased by the fact that Beck stil defended Veronica, despite
all.
“I’m not defending her, I’m just stating a fact.” Beck stated.
Blue scoffed, “A fact indeed.” She said, mockingly and he glared at her but that didn’t stop her from speaking futher.
“Come to think of it, where was all this energy when she was being banished?” Blue said again and Beck remained quiet, not knowing what to say.
“Exactly. If I remember clearly, you stood there. In fact, you
looked away even when she was asking for your help.” His
father chipped in, supporting his sister.
“Now, you’re putting up an act, acting like you really care about
her. Didn’t you reject her? Or did anyone force you to do so?” As
he spoke, Beck’s eyes widened in shock.
He didn’t know that his parents had heard that he rejected Veronica. He didn’t know how they got to find out, so, it caught him by surprise.
“Why? What were you thinking? Were you thinking that we weren’t going to find out?” His mother said, scornfully.
“Do not pay any attention to him.” His father said, turning to his
Chapter 56
wife. “He thinks we are not smart and we don’t know what is
going on within the four corners of this pack’s wall and beyond here.”
He then turned to Beck again, “If you think we don’t know what is going on, then you must be the biggest joker alive.”
“I have eyes and ears everywhere. So, don’t be so shocked, son.” He said, smiling mockingly.
“Speaking of that, dad,” Blue suddenly began to speak again and everyone’s attention was on her.
“Did you know that he sent men out to look for her and they’ve been searching for more than a week now, yet they haven’t found her. I just hope she has been taken away by rogue wolves or maybe dead or something.” She said with a wicked and scary
look on her face.
“Blue!” Beck yelled at her and she shrugged. “How can you be so wicked, vile and insensitive? Wishing someone else evil?
Really?” Beck said, disappointed and shocked at his sister’s
words.
“Your attitude is as cold as ice and as dark as coal. It bothers me
so much.” Beck’s voice sounded so firm and exuded strong
emotions, while his parents just watched on, not saying
anything.
Chapter 56
He continued, “I can’t believe you would say such a thing about
someone else when you are not any better.”
“What do you mean? What are you talking about?” She said,
sounding unbothered.
“I’m talking about the lies you told me.” He replied, raising his
voice, while their parents just watched them.
“I still don’t know what you’re talking about.” She said again,
feigning ignorance. “I didn’t tell any lie.” She lied, avoiding Beck’s
gaze.
“You think I won’t find out that you were the one who lied to
Damion about Ben and Veronica. Cooking up all sort of lies to
him and he was gullible enough to fall for it. I don’t know what
you were trying to achieve with that stunt you pulled but that
useless act of yours almost ended our friendship!” He yelled at
her.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She kept on lying,
refusing to acknowledge what her brother was saying.
“Mum, dad, I don’t know what he is talking about.” She said,
looking away.
“Lies, pure lies.” He said, his voice laced with disgust. “It seems
that is the only thing you’re good at now. Lying.”
Chapter 56
“Beck, don’t talk to your sister in that manner.” Their mum tried
to caution him but Beck wasn’t having it.
“No, mum. I’ll talk to her the way I deem it fit.” He replied. “Enough of you taking sides with her when she does things that are obviously wrong. You keep indulging her, that’s why she has
so much confidence.” He said again, leaving his parents
speechless.
“Just look at him still defending that ‘good for nothing‘ girl.” Blue
said, rudely.
“Now, I’m beginning to wonder if you are the weak one or she
is.” She said again, finally provoking Beck.
He angrily charged at her and she scurried away before he could
touch her and hid behind their mum who shielded her.
“Mum, please step out of the way. I don’t want to lose my temper any further.“He said angrily, but respectfully.
“Or what?” His mum replied. “If I don’t get out of the way, what are you going to do? Beat me up?” She queried him and he
shouted in frustration.
He then turned to his dad, “Dad, are you just going to say
anything?”
“About what?” He asked, acting like he didn’t know what had
Chapter 56
been going on.
“About all of this, dad.” He replied, trying to hide his
disappointment.
“And what do you want me to say? What do you expect me to
say?” His dad asked again, walking away to take his seat on the
chair.
“Really dad?” Beck said, his disappointment now evident. “What
exactly is going on? What are you all acting like you’re against
me for crying out loud?” He lamented, feeling somewhat
betrayed.
“Good. That’s perfect. It’s good that you feel that we’re against
you. As long as you choose to speak about that nonentity, I will
TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY be against you!” His father said,
leaving Beck completely lost for words.
Finally finding his voice, Beck managed to say, “I can’t stand you
all right now.” and began to leave but his father’s stopped him.
“Stop right there!” He yelled at him. “And where do you think
you’re going, leaving like that?” He asked angrily.
“I’m leaving.” Beck replied, coldly and his father hissed loudly.
His father’s next words shocked him to the bone,
Chapter 56
“I have spoken with my friend, the Alpha of the Star Light pack.
He has a young daughter, Andrea, almost the same age as you
are. She is ready to get married and is a perfect match for you.
She is strong enough to become your Luna, not some worthless
and weak useless omega.” He announced.
“What?” Beck shouted, shocked. “What does this mean? Are you
trying to arrange a marriage for me or what? Who does
something as archaic as that in this day and age?” He couldn’t
believe what he had just heard.
“Call it whatever you want to call it. I do not care.” His father
said, not caring about what Beck was saying.
“I’m not going to marry her! I won’t marry someone just because you want me to.” Beck said firmly.
“Oh, so you prefer to bring a cursed woman into this pack?” His
father said and Beck became speechless.
“Answer me!” His father yelled at him but he remained quiet.
“Andrea is the perfect one for you. At least we won’t be afraid of
losing our lives one day because a cursed omega who can’t even
fight to save her life resides in our midst.” He said with scorn
and Beck turned to his mum.
“Mum, aren’t you going to say anything in all of this?” He asked
Chapter 56
her but she gave him a blank expression.
“Your mum and I have spoken about it.” His father mentioned.
“I can’t believe this.” Beck muttered as he paced round the living
room.
“You’re the Alpha and I don’t think I need to remind you that the
pack needs a Luna as soon as possible. And since you can’t find
one yourself, I have taken up the responsibility and I have found one just perfect for you.” He stated and Beck shook his head in disagreement.
His mum then said, “Look son, It’s for the best. It’s for your own
good.”
“My good, you say?” He said and scoffed. “Mine or yours?” He
asked but his mum didn’t reply.
“Watch you mouth! I won’t sit back and watch you disrespect
us!” His dad yelled at him and he just glared at his family
members, one after another, unable to say anything else.
“You know what? I can’t do this right now.” He said, devastated,
and began to leave, but his father’s voice made him stop in his
tracks.
“One more thing. Let this be the last time I hear that girl’s name
in this pack. Else, you won’t believe what I’m going to do to you.
Chapter 56

You might be the Alpha now, but I’m still your father!” He
barked with the most deafening voice that Beck had ever heard
him use.
“Put yourself in order and be prepared. You’re meeting Andrea
very soon!” He growled at him and left the living room with his
wife and Beck’s sister.
